Comment:
Dr. Balduz is a smart guy in physics; however, his lectures are hard to understand. He mainly talks about the principles of physics during his lecture and then assigns homework on Webassign. He should have done the classwork on the board during his lectures instead of just showing it on the projector. He dropped the lowest test score, though.

Comment:
If I hadn't taken three years of Physics in high school this class would have been brutal. Dr. Balduz is highly confusing in his lectures, he more so just does things on the board and doesn't explain why or what he is doing. You're probably better off watching professors on YouTube to pass the class. One positive would be he drops lowest test grade

Dr. Balduz is definitely one of the better Physics teacher/professor that I have had. Indeed, I would give him an A for his personality and for genuinely trying to teach the material well. That said, his teaching quality is abysmal. Particularly, he never gives a direct answer to questions. His tests are tough, but he drops the lowest one.

Literally the worst professor I have ever had. He never did any example problems in class. He posted lots of examples on line, but none of it was legible at all. I didnt learn anything at all from him, and had to teach myself everything. Trying to pay attention in class honestly lowered my IQ. He absolutely should not be teaching Physics.

He knows his stuff, that being said he does not know how to translate that for you to learn said stuff. He gets lost writing formulas on the board and working examples to completion. If he just focused on helping learn to set up problems students would do much better as plugging into the formulas is the easy part. He also assigns graded classwork.

You will have lots of classwork and quizzes. The class is lecture-based, and he will get off on many tangents during the lectures. His lectures are mainly him doing examples. Tests are fairly easy because he gives you tests from previous years to study from. He also gives WebAssign homework that is graded.

Dr. Balduz is a very smart man. However, he is not a good professor by any stretch of the imagination. His classes consist of quizzes, classwork, and reviewing those assignments. All theory is learned from the textbook. There are no real lectures, and your grade in this class is based on your prior knowledge of physics. Do not take this class.

Comment:
Lectures consist of breezing through course material without recourse as if the professor assumes the students already have a complete understanding of the nuances of physics. Notes and documents posted are illegible chicken scratch. Labs are the most demeaning thing one may do in their life, EXTREMELY unclear directions wastefully eats 2 1/2 hours

When you take Balduz you're signing up for the textbook to be your professor. His lectures are not lectures they are ramblings about things that don't matter while he writes messy equations on the whiteboard. The only reason I made an A is because 50% of the grading scale is free 100's. If you do take him study hard for the tests and you will pass.

He doesn't teach. Worst prof. I've had. I made a high grade, so this class with Balduz is definitely doable, but I learned 0 from him all semester.

His lectures suck. He doesn't clearly tell the student how to do the work. His lectures are more like listening to a robot discuss theory while writing chicken scratch on the board. Have fun.

If you can, take this class with a different professor. Do good on the homework and quizzes and you should be able to pass. lectures are hard to stay awake in because of how confusing he can be.

The SI is your only hope to understand this class. The good thing about him is his tests are %90 from the previous exams that he has on his webpage. If you %100 understand the problems, do webassgn, and work on the lab reports, i guarantee you a B

First of all: physics at Mercer isn't easy. In my experience, Dr. Balduz was very helpful when asked. He seems to do better with discussing material than lecturing--aka, it pays to ask intelligent questions. I learned much more when I was prepared for class and ha d read the material. I would write down questions before class. It helps.

Please do not take Dr. Balduz unless you have an unusually high understanding of physics. His lectures are all over the place and he only works problems during lecture. Tests/quizzes are pretty hard but he's good with partial credit. Many people in my class were struggling to keep their head above water.

Dont listen to other people. This guy gives you his past exams and the questions are based from his past exams. Read the book for conceptional and look on his website for past exams. the open ended questions are basically his past exams. Good teacher if you can pay attention. CLA have a hard time because of the material. Engineer tend to do better

Does not explain concepts at all. Terrible teacher. I had to teach myself from the text and based on his old test problems posted on the website. You need a physics background to take this course because he can't teach you
