Comment:
Judy teaches higher level critical thinking skills. If you want a course where your assessments are based on recalling facts and dates, as opposed to thinking critically about the world, this isn't for you. If you want to really learn, this course can take you anywhere you can dream of.

She's a really nice person and in my opinion, her class is designed for people who really interested in the topics she taught. You may need put extra work in it but it worths.

Judy was an amazing teacher, and everyone else in my class loved Judy, too. She was great insights about journalism, and is always bringing new ideas to the table (she likes to bring treats to the table, too!). Judy is great! Don't listen to other posts, Judy has been one of my favorite teachers thus far.

Terrible. Scatterbrained. Useless information that won't prepare you for assignments. She well defines this->just because a prof has a lot of experience in their field, doesn't mean they can teach. At all.

Completely oblivious professor. Doesn't set a standard for expectations on any work in class, papers or presentations. I wouldn't recommend taking any of her courses, they are useless and petty. For having so much experience of being in China the only thing she cares about is showing students stupid youtube clips in class.

The most worthless class I've ever taken, and the biggest waste of time. We never do ANYTHING. Not a single thing - and that's not good. I'd rather be learning things than listen to her talk about whatever pops into her head. Don't take anything she teaches. Seriously, don't.

Do not take a course from this woman. She is crazy, a hard grader (it doesn't help that her comments are written illegibly), and you will never do ANYTHING in class. You might be reading this thinking "you must do something in class", but seriously we never do.

Outstanding instructor. Challenges students at every level, encourages well thought-out writing. Respectful of those who give respect. Talented writer, interesting as an individual. I'd have enjoyed other journalism classes much more if she had been the professor.

Oh... my... gosh. I didn't get ANYTHING from this course. The lectures were too hard to follow, and the readings were not interesting to me. I somehow managed an A because I can write and there is a lot of writing. I failed most of the quizzes, though, and there were lots.

Run... literally. She requires too much work for EVERYTHING in her class. Her assignments could be made a lot easier if she would make her expectations more clear! She's really nice, but is scatter-brained and doesn't make sense much of the time.

Smart & nice, but a terrible professor with a political agenda to shove down your throat. Not everyone is a liberal, thank you. She is a lousy communicator-- one of her assignment descriptions for an 800 word essay was 2000+ words long, no kidding.

This is one of the few classes where beating your head off the metal chair in front of you would be better than listening. Someone please teach her how to give a interesting lecture and how to work volume on microphone! Too many stories about her kids too

This is an interesting class but not because of lecture. There are a lot of readings but they are awesome and very interesting. Be prepared for lots of quizzes in lecture that suck. The coourse improves writing skills.
