Comment:
Professor Gannon really did not know about the class criteria, even after having taught it several times in the past. He only went into the field with us once and would sit in the classroom as we went out and collected data for the rest of the semester. The students basically ran the entire class by themselves and he just graded the papers.

In the semester I had him, I had no negative experiences with Dr. Gannon. I enjoyed his class. However, some of my friends from lab did. He is very strict when it comes to making up exams. He tends to read off the slides, but if you show up to class and study well for exams, you will do fine. His lab exams were also easy.

Easily the WORST professor I have had at Altoona. Going to class is pointless because he just reads straight from the slides, but there are clicker participation points so you have to go to class. He's rude and no help when you ask a question. The only grades are exams and labs. I will definitely avoid ever taking him again, and you should too.

Don't bother asking questions during an exam if you don't understand something because he will make a fool out of you in front of the rest of the class. He reads directly from the powerpoint slides, very boring.

This dude literally is no help. He just sits and reads the slides to you in class and is not even close to clear in what he wants when grading labs and lab reports. If you want to continue to enjoy biology try your best to avoid this man. He does not negotiate at all, it is his way or the highway.

Dr. Gannon is not a professor I would recommend. He had my grade lower than it should have been and in lab he gave my partner a 19/20 and me a 15/20 when we had the same data and answers. It did not help when I went to talk with him about it. When questions were asked, he answered in an irritable manner.

Not a great prof. Reads off the slides when he lectures, so hes basically not necessary. That being said you still have to go to class to answer iclicker questions if you want full participation credit. He puts more effort into avoiding answering a question than it would take to give an actual answer. Avoid this guy.

Dr. Gannon made my first semester at Penn State a nightmare. It was nearly impossible to get a good grade on anything besides the labs and since he posted everyone's grades online together, I know I wasn't the only one struggling. Seriously, if you can avoid him, it's in your best interest.

Gannon is a professor I would not recommend taking at all. He mispronounces simple biology terms and if you have a question he is very demeaning and rude when answering. His tests are on what he has on his slideshows and usually they don't make sense. Not helpful in labs, uses i-clickers for participation, doesn't use the textbook.

75% of your grade in this class are from the 4 exams. The other 25% is from lab, so if u don't study for the exams u will fail. All of the questions for exams are in power points u have access to. Power points are usually about 100 slides so good luck. I recommend trying adrenal for this class lol.

This class was by far the best class I have taken in my entire college career. Dr. Gannon went out of his way to show us a multitude of research techniques and to give us positive feedback on all of our papers to help us become better writers. This class alone prepared me to get a job out of college and I would take it over and over again with him.

The guy is a jerk and he is always rude. Dont take him, thank God I only had him for lab never again he belittled me and made me feel stupid kept saying that this is easy it's not it college. You really have to have a back bone to deal with him, and he will back off. Then he should act like he has some sense.

As a biology major I have never done as poorly in a biology class as his. His exams are horrible instead of testing your general knowledge of the material he has covered you must know the smallest of details to do good. In lab your basically on your own trying tl figure out what to do and I'd you ask for help he tells you to follow the lab manual.

He is very hard to understand because he mispronounces everything. He is very rude and gets extremely annoyed with questions. He doesn't do much to help his students. He's not clear with notes and EVERY LITTLE THING from the notes is on the exams. If you don't read the book you will not pass. I'm a biology major and he turned me off of science.

If you're at Altoona all four years and a science major, I am sorry for you. If you are part of the 2 plus 2 program do not take Bio 240 until you get up to State. Gannon was the worst professor I've ever had and I was one of the few students who got an A! He is a useless waste and you could learn it better by yourself. No help and very hard!

Seemed rude at first but if you take the time to get to know him he becomes a wonderful person. He's also very good in lab which I feel is more important then lecture seeing as you can miss lecture and still get an A. You can't do that with lab in this class.

Dr. Gannon is a wonderful professor. He may come across as rude at first but once you get to know him you will love him. He will do ANYTHING to help you through this class, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK! All of his exams are questions directly from the notes. If you study the notes you will get an A. Also he is great in lab. I highly recommend him!!
