If you do not like writing, this class is not for you. I love writing, but his grading was tough. He really makes sure that you do everything according to how it is in the instructions. Deadlines are very important and will rarely be extended. I personally liked this professor because he provided great insight and taught me to be a better writer.

If critical thinking is not your thing, find another instructor. If you are expecting a participation trophy, find another instructor. If you can't hang with MLA, find another instructor. Hazelgrove is AMAZING. Do not expect to be babysat. Do the work, push yourself, participate, and you will do great in his classes. It's good for your Kleos!

If you like writing about the same topic over and over again than this is the Prof for you! He doesn't let you use regular internet sources, has to be from a book or newspaper so it makes it 10x harder to find sources for his papers. Not a hard class but so frustrating when it comes to meeting all his requirements for the papers. Do not recommend!

As an English teacher, he's pretty tough with his criteria and standards. If English isn't your strong suit, Ted's papers and grading will be your downfall. He values insight and interpretations in class, and he's a cool guy, but you might be spending extra time in the SAGE center if you have him. Sparknotes will be your friend in his class.

Nonsensical rants in class about topics not related to the books. We once had a discussion about milk when we were readying about the battles in the Iliad. Not clear on feedback for tests. Overall would not take again. I know this is obvious but this is not a class about myths. More a course on analyzing books.

What a character. If you don't like reading this class isn't for you. He is thought provoking & always interesting. You have to work for your grade if you don't participate you wont do well. Accidentally signed up for the wrong class, planning to drop after the first day. He filled the white board and was just captivating. Staying, best choice ever

Ted is one of the most influential professors i've ever had. A very articulate and well spoken man. He's an incredibly passionate teacher, and I loved listening to his lectures. i've taken 3 of Teds classes and would have taken more if i hadn't graduated!

I have never before met someone who looked more like Shakespeare! I knew from the moment I saw him I would like him. Most of the lecture is back and forth discussion of the reading, and if you read, the class will be much more fun. You can tell that he truly loves what he teaches; he is a man with his feet in the clouds and his head in the stars :)

Ted Hazelgrove made reading and appreciating Shakespeare less intimidating and genuinely insightful. Yes he does have you do a 250 word (double spaced) Journal on what you read each week, but its for the students benefit as he will hint drop what you *should* write about and you can use your Journal entries to help you on the Take-Home Exams.

Only two papers. But other writing assignments due each week. Assignments get locked right at 11:58 not even 11:59 like stated. Also for an English professor his responses seem as if hes a high schooler texting. Very very tough grader. I do NOT recommend taking his class. Hard to reach him too.

It is as if he is trying to fail you. If you mess up once youre done for. If you dont turn a paper in on time you will receive a zero. If it isnt the correct font, you will receive a zero. If your paper isnt the correct length is will receive a zero. He provides little feedback, and is not specific enough in the assignment requirements.

I recommend this class to all lovers of English! Ted talks a lot, but he always has something worth saying. Very passionate about writing. He's hilarious. I feel like I took a class with Captain Jack Sparrow as my teacher. Lots of assignments, but definitely improves your writing. He collects everything as a portfolio at the end. Don't buy books..

He's a very good instructor. He gives great, helpful feedback on all of the assignments. He also grades HOMEWORK on completion and not accuracy. However, in the online class, there are 2 very long papers (10-11 pages each). But you get to choose the topic for both of them which helps a lot. I highly recommend taking his class if you can.

You have two papers that are 10 pages long. The reading you do every week along with each assignment preps you for the essays. He provides feedback on each assignment that you turn in and is extremely nice! Great professor!

exams are lengthy papers and and not very clear as to what is actually required. Hes a smart man and loves what he does but its difficult to follow at times. You read A LOT. I hate how he didn't use canvas and could not give you an exact grade when i asked for it.

Where to start... Well first off he does not use canvas. When you ask for your grade he can not give you an answer. His Exams... picky about referencing to a 600 page book. Final paper worth 25% of grade on stuff he believe is easy to find (not easy at all) the pros of his class. No homework do not need to participate in discussion& super laid back

In the learning community class about the Hunger Games, his English session of the class contains a lot of writing and integrating texts, grades mostly on grammar, wouldn't take his class by himself though bc he gets a little too philosophical at times.

If you have an interest in English and the beauty of language you have to take this class. He has his heads in the clouds and teaches his students to take a moment to do the same. You write a lot but its all very creative and expressive. Give the hippy a shot, he talks about himself but with good reason, hes cultured and interesting.
