Awesome class! No textbook, no pp, no HW, just 3 tests, all open note (going to class is only way to get the info you need for tests). You have to write down what he says (or take notes on the occasional video) which can be tricky at times if you have sloppy handwriting and can't write that fast. I only got a B+ in the class because of this.

Absolutely loved the class! Open note tests, three tests and thats it. Attendance isnt "mandatory" but its the only way you get the info- no book or powerpoints, etc. He's an awesome professor and guy in general!! take it if you can get into it!

History Of Rock will probably go down as one of the most fun classes I've ever taken; Prof D makes it all clear and easy, and as mentioned before, Open Note tests. I took copious amounts of notes, and managed to get above a 94 on all tests without trying hard at all, and I loved the course matter, too.

He likes the class, and it is an interesting class. Go to class, not only because they are very interesting, but you need to go to do well on the tests as there is no book. Worth taking, but there could have been more discussed.

Not a bad class to take. Was excited about it at beginning, but towards the end of semester was boring. All the notetaking is crazy.Promises us that we'll watch a lot of movies, but doesn't seem to happen.Take good notes b/c tests are open notes.Even though my notes were almost verbatim, still got B's on tests.Introduced me to new bands take if you can

I think he's awesome. The whole class is about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. Tests are open-note but somehow alot of us got B's. No attendance policy but most of the time the class is so entertaining you will want to go. Definitely reccommend this class to anyone who likes rock-n-roll.

acts like he knows everything, quite cocky. MUS 204 isn't difficult- open note tests. MUI 430 and other MUI classes are ridiculous, and you feel dumber for even taking the class. Can make even the simplest of things seem complicated. too bad there's only 1 other professor in the MUI dept. who teaches several courses & is equally as bad.

On test days (which are open-note), I found it hard to get above a 88 (Stunning since I got an easy A in MUS 203, LOVE rock music, and guitar). If you have open-note tests, people who come to every class should be able to get an A, and not have to guess the teacher's random opinions on 10% of it. Class is an easy B, but don't bank on an easy A.

This class is awesome, it's history of rock for god sake. Take notes and go to class, and there's no way you can get below an A. His jokes, although corny, are entertaining and there's never a dull day. If you appreciate music take this class. No one should have any complaints about this class, and if they do...theyre probably dumb as a brick.

Unfortunately for MUI majors/minors, we have to take classes with Prof. D. He is so unclear in what he will test you on it is close to impossible to succeed in this class. I have never put so much effort into a class and still done so poorly. This class has a potential to teach you a lot (from the book and projects) Prof. D., however, does not.

I went into this class thinking this guy would be cool, but he was pretty pompous and told really bad jokes. I wrote down everything he said, practically verbatim, and somehow ended up with a B in the class. He clearly thinks he is the man, which gets annoying fast.

I didn't enjoy this class but it was a relatively easy A. Tests are open note, but often his notes do not correspond to your own. He talks over music and you can't hear him. he'll say not to write things down and then it appears on test. I would have preferred getting notes and not wasting my time.

As he says, "It's history of rock and roll, not algebra or phyics." He does know what he's talking about and he was in the business. Take the class if your looking for an easy elective...plus so far the tests have all been open note!
