He made something as complicated as Real Analysis seem so simple. He's very good at explaining the concepts and making it intuitive. Sometimes seems a little unusual but is always interesting to listen too. Also loves class participation which is a plus. Great class and teacher

Coming from a math major that loves thinking critically about proofs and the underlying meaning and explanations of mathematics, I recommend Larsen as a brilliant and precise professor. He is quirky but passionate, and he is willing to help those who are engaged in the class. I would go as far to say this was my favorite class this far.

Comment:
What should I say to this professor. The course real analysis is difficult, he had a TA, without no help session. The reason, I think, is that the TA's understanding of this course is not that good, and the professor is lazy. The homework take a 50% of the final score, anyone can image how bad it is with a bad TA. Do not take his course.

He always let you think about the problems before tell you how to do it. He makes real analysis pretty easy.

Comment:
He is very friendly, and witty. The lectures are run in a socratic style. He asks questions and the class participates in constructing proofs. This makes it difficult to follow at times, but otherwise engaging. His homework was assigned at lecture and was challenging but reasonable. Tests were very fair and easier than homework.

Brilliant guy who knows his stuff very well. Professor was hard and had high expectations but presented things differently (somewhat less abstract but similarly rigorous) than in the book. This is a hard course and if you spend the time to completely grasp the material, you are solid. Unfortunately, I didn't do this.

This man does not know how to teach. He did almost no examples and expected you to be able to solve problems based upon his proof of the most basic case. As someone else mentioned, he showed up late to the final and didn't even have all the tests printed until 1/4 of the class was over. Also, he made it an important point to never ever email him.

Where to start... On the day of the final (40% of your overall grade) he showed up 10 minutes late with half of the tests printed. I got my test 17 minutes into the class and he only gave us 5 minutes extra. He didn't even help distribute them after that (might've given us more time), instead, he left to check his phone. Didnt actually teach either

Never in his office. Unresponsive to emails. Leaves right after class even when a ton of people in the class have questions. Has great difficulty communicating abstract concepts effectively. Shows absolutely no concern for his students actually learning the material. I would avoid him at all costs.

Good professor, understands his topic very well, and understands thoroughly what specific points should be stressed. im not a fan of theory, but he does a good job. dont take his class if you dont want to think, he will give you a good understand if you think a little bit.

My favourite math professor, had him for analysis, yet I wouldn't recommend him to everyone. He forced us to think on ourselves, focused on "whys and hows", and he IS FUNNY. So if interested in maths, loves to think deep about maths, he definitely is a good professor. Otherwise you'll suffer alot. His hw is extremely hard and sometimes long too.

A very nice man. The exams are extremly easy but the homewoks are horrible.(He gave homework everyday, sometimes more than 10 proving problems a day, it really takes ages to finish)

Had him for LinAlg. At 8am, his teaching style put me to sleep almost every day. The class is all proofs and theorems, and the book doesn't give many examples at all. I wish there were help sessions other than the once-per-week conferences, because my TA had a harder time with English than the math. Overall more difficult than he should be.
