Comment:
A lot of theatre majors here on campus really dislike Ed, but I really enjoy him as a prof. I've had him for three classes now and although he may get off topic, I find classes engaging and interesting. He has a very particular type of humor that may make him seem abrasive at times, but I genuinely believe he wants the best for his students!

Not an easy A. Even if you try your best you can not achieve Eds standard of outstanding. He gave vague feedback and was very rude and confrontational when I asked questions or asked for additional help. A lot of people like Ed because hes funny and talented, but one-on-one he is combative and unhelpful.

Comment:
Ed is rude. Instead of encouraging students, he reinforces those anxious thoughts that you cant succeed. He thinks very highly of himself and argues against your ideas. This was a discussion based class that led to interesting conversations. Also, he never showed grades or gave feedback on papers and exams. Would not recommend.

Ed is so much fun to work with! I took acting for my Arts Gen-Ed and it was a total blast. Be warned though - it's a lot of memorizing scenes and evaluating different performances. Don't be afraid to look dumb, especially when you're playing different theatre games. It's a great class that will make you feel more outgoing and confident.

Ed cares. A lot. More than that, if you can back up your views, opinions, and goals you are golden. Unlike many other professors I had (and other students), Ed did not expect his students to agree. That was the best part. While feeling lost at the school and looking for a niche, Ed made me feel like I belonged at least somewhere on campus.

DONT TAKE ACTING FOR YOUR ARTS GEN ED. It involves a ton of memorizations, papers, and you'll be graded based on your acting ability compared to people who are majors. Ed is fine, but this class is a huge time-suck and 100% not worth it as a gen ed.

Ed is great. I've had him for three classes now. The previous comment is incorrect, he may give you a look if what you said is off the wall, he just wants you to be able to back stuff up. And yeah, if you don't do your work, he's not going to be easy, its that simple. Ed really cares about his students, it just takes about six months to notice.

Um....he seemed like a nice guy at the beginning of the semester but he was horribly rude to me one on one. So I didn't enjoy him very much. He kind of seems like the type of person that says it's his way or the highway.

Ed Cohn is a funny guy and gives helpful feedback during rehearsals. Sometimes seems disconnected from his students, likes to swear for attention.

He is very informal in his classes, and can sometimes allow the class to go on tangents. But he always gets back to the material and makes the materials fun! Very open minded and encouraging to students. His tests are hard if you don't study what he tells you to study, but easy if you do.

Teaches with a very relaxed, personal style and gets to know all of his students. Has a few views on theatre that I don't agree with, but overall he's not a bad teacher.

He's the best. I learned more from him in two weeks than I learned in four years of high school theatre. He's incredibly helpful, both in class and in the rehearsal process. GREAT sense of humor!!

He loves shock value, and stupid jokes. Great sense of humor and interesting to listen to. He has great ideas and creative suggestions. He is willing to get to know those who seek him out. Loves being on the inside of any joke...don't whisper in class.
