Comment:
She seems really kind and knowledgeable in Latin American history but she often assumes students know what she's talking about when these are new terms we have never heard before. Super vague slides and often doesn't finish a full thought before moving on to something else. She also doesn't elaborate on many things and mumbles a lot

Comment:
World History is a broad course, so I think she did her best especially with lectures outside of her subject area (latin america). I enjoyed the lectures about latin america however, and I might take another one of her courses. The readings weren't too hard, but close readings were important for the accompanying discussion groups.

Comment:
Lectures were extremely boring. She stutters a lot, and her slides were very vague. SO you really need to pay attention. I found it hard to write down notes because she would change her train of thought mid sentence. She seems so friendly and she's probably an amazing person, but I could barely stay focused and interested in her lectures.

She was great. She's approachable but she is a little shy which is why I think people gave her poor ratings for that. Her exams are extremely straightforward, if you go to class & participate you'll do well. People who say things weren't on the exam were not paying attention.

Great Prof! She makes the lectures interesting and tries to give thorough explanations with examples. She is extremely nice as long as you are paying attention and not being disruptive in class. She does sometimes go on too long and forget to cover material, and the textbook seemed irrelevant, but otherwise, highly recommend the class and professor

She knows her stuff with Latin America, but sometimes has trouble teaching it. Sometimes she'll ramble, run out of time, and skip over important slides with no explanation. Then they'll be on the exam. She's condescending while teaching, and often very vague. However, the course is fun and very, very, easy as long as you show up.

Her lectures are well organized and full of information but if you ask her a question, don't count on her knowing the answer. The downside to the class is that participation is worth 30%!! If you're a shy or quiet student ..you're in trouble

great prof! love her class and i enjoyed going so much. Topics are really interesting. She posts her slide online but you need to go to the class in order to get the actually depth of them. Attendance to lecture isn't mandatory but tutorials are. Love the class and the prof!

Good prof I liked her but her. Knows her stuff. grading scheme was terrible!!! Attendance was worth as much as the final paper, AS MUCH AS THE FINAL PAPER!!! 30% of your grade depended on your attendance!!! It was a 9am Monday class I didnt go and came out with a C weighed against a B+ on my final paper. Was very rattled.

One of the worst prof's i've ever had. Lectures put you you sleep, she treats students terribly, final exam isn't what she said it would be, terrible marker incomprehensible and terrible class structure. Grades for attendance but doesn't know anyones names. I was marked absent half the time I was actually in class. So rattled.

An awful professor: gave participation marks but only knew 5/50 student's names. Punititive when questioned or regarding content or evaluation methods. I have since finished 3 university degrees ( including a masters degree), Sonya is among the worst profs I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. Avoid if possible.

Very bad speaker. Doesn't seem very knowledgeable (in material besides Latin America). Lectures seem unorganized, reflected in the very bare slides. Fairly easy class though, just try to pay attention to the lectures without falling asleep.

Good prof who really knows her specialty of Latin America very well. Her knowledgeable approach made up for her slightly rude attitude towards students. At times I found she was a bit annoying to listen to but for the most part I learned a lot.

Class was very fun overall. Being about historians craft I found her other classes and her area of expertise was often imputed into the class as well. Her point of view was fresh because she spoke her beliefs. Even though she said that my career choice was boring she was a very nice and easy-spoken professor.

Comment:
Found her very disorganized, confusing, and rude to students. She has her point of view, and everyone else is wrong - which is not what history is about. If you aren't interested in her subject of interst, she shuts you out. Boring lecturer, does not engage the students well.
