Comment:
I've taken two METEO classes at PSU. The other with a different prof I got an A in, and with this one I got a C. Prof Babb is as unhelpful as the convoluted material he presents, all of which does very little to prepare you for the assignments. If you need help, he just vaguely refers you back to the material. Not just difficult, but unfair.

Professor Babb is great. He really tries to help you succeed in this course. He would answer any question. The materials are challenging but explain things well. Homework won't be that hard as long as you read materials carefully and take good notes. However, DON'T take it for General Education UNLESS you're extremely passionate about the weather.

Dr. Babb is a great teacher, but the material can be difficult at times, and his grading is a little tough.

Expected this to be an easy 100 course considering I have a basic background in meteorology from high school but man was I wrong. Worked really really hard spending countless of hours just to get an 80% overall.

This class was online so I never actually met the professor, but he was not very helpful. You were kind of on your own and the class was extremely hard for an online 100 level class. If you're thinking about taking this class for a gen ed, definitely do NOT.

I wish I had read some of these reviews before taking METEO101. Everyone is correct in saying this class is way to hard. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !! Everything we have covered, and I mean EVERYTHING, has been extremely difficult to grasp. Do NOT take this class if you don't need it. It's almost comical how much my grade drops after every assignment. DONT

METEO101 with David Babb sucks. I've been making Dean's list with ease but this class almost screwed me. I decided to drop it. Way to hard for a basic 100 level class. My major courses were not even that hard. Will not take again... ever.

Warning non-Meteorology majors! This class is not a typical 100 Level course. I found the material interesting but not worth the elective. It's very time consuming (8 to 10 hours a week) reading a text book no interactive teaching. Projects, quizzes & labs very difficult. This was my first and last on-line class.

Beware non-Meteorology majors! This is one of the most difficult classes I've taken. I took it as an elective and it was much more work than I bargained for. The class starts out easy, but gets very hard midway through. There is so much reading and coursework. I never thought multiple choice tests could actually be difficult until I took his class!

I missed the Dean's list because of this class by .01! I have straight A's in all other classes (I took 7 classes this semester)!! Such a hard class and I regret taking it. I begged him to let me makeup or redo a quiz or a lab but he wouldn't let me. Do not take this class unless required for your major!

Too difficult for a 100 level class. I took this for a GN and it was online. The quizzes and projects are extremely time consuming and very confusing. I thought I did great on projects until i got my grade back and almost failed them. So hard, but he is helpful and gets back to you quickly. This class messed up my 3.67 GPA.

This course is extremely difficult. I took it thinking it would be an easy GN but was I wrong. Weekly quizzes and labs, also 4 very difficult projects. I literally cried from frustration while doing one of the projects. It's too detailed for a 101 course. Ughhhh. Def messed up my gpa big time.

I wouldn't recommend taking this class unless you are required to do so. The conversational style of material presentation can be very confusing. I work very hard and often feel confident before taking the weekly quizzes, but usually end up failing them. I have taken over 20 college courses and this one is the most frustrating. Not your typical 101

First, textbook use is low because there was none, all material was online which I like. Professor is great. Do as he asks and if you don't understand, use the discussion and he will answer all questions. He answers then all so would help if you read all of them. I enjoyed the class and am now taking another with him. I had a lot of fun.

Dr. Babb was very helpful. You MUST read the material and the book is big. He was a co-author and his quizzes will test your reading comprehension. He will answer questions quickly and completely. Not my major but I earned an A without a curve.

Took course online through Penn State World Campus. Challenging, but in the end, you'll know the basics of weather forecasting. Weekly quizzes in lieu of mid-terms or final. Challenging questions that test knowledge, not just theory. Open book. Highly recommended for someone who is interested in the topic. Not a cake course.

Prof Babb is very helpful and always available for questions. This course is a lot more difficult than the 003 level suggests. The weekly quizzes seem unreasonably hard but the labs are easier. Some of the units are crammed too tight together considering how important they are. This isn't an "easy A"

Course taken through World Campus. Well constructed curriculum w/much graphic and video to support major points. Weekly quiz in lieu of final exam well tailored for adult learners. Projects are a bit of a time suck, but they reinforce learning pretty well. Responsive to e-mails - typically received responses within 24 hours.
