All around most of the subject matter is fairly easy to understand, but you have to really know the technical terms for the quizzes and tests. There are four big projects and the instructions aren't very clear. The teaching style didn't really fit my learning style well, so I found much of the class and projects rather frustrating.

Good teacher and nice person. You will have to follow his instruction carefully. Just do it, and you'll be fine in his class. Very clear explanation of the subject. English is not my native language, but Bob Irvine is very patient teacher. So, I had one of the best experience of understanding professor ever.

He's a nice guy. A little strict on the details, but fair. There are 12 programming projects worth 100 points each, which he wants coded in a certain way per instructions. There are also short multiple choice quizzes on assigned reading worth 10 points each, a paper midterm worth 200 points and a paper final worth 300.

Introduction to Computer Information Science: Should have really been a cake walk for me, I work in IT. But teacher made it a lot of work. However it was interesting, just should have been simpler for a 3 unit class, I'm sure those that did not already work in IT had a hard time of it.

Not a beginners class. Does everything that is possible to help you fail. Not concerned for students who don't understand programming. Entirely, too much information and work in short periods. Ask to read 60 pages in a week, do a project, take a quiz, come to class twice for few hours and lab. What about those with a full load other homework.

Don't waste your time. Programming is supposed to be about coming up with inventive solutions to problems, and this guy accepts very little creativity. He will expect you to conform to his "standards" and do the projects his way, or gtfo. The only thing I learned was a bunch of bad habits and how to write cringe-worthy code.

Great teacher! Easy... no. If you want to learn programming this is the guy to take, if you are just looking to check of a requirement you may want to take someone else. I thought the exercise and tests could have been a little more straight forward, they can be tricky. But if you study the exercises you should do okay on the tests.

I think he was a great teacher, in fact I wish he taught more subjects in computers that some professors shouldn't be doing. I learned so much thanks to him and he wants you to be successful he will help you if you just ask for it. Attend lab, you will get one and one attention for your issues.

In any Programming you must pay attention to the DETAILS. The basics programming skills are taught in the class. Standards high and are different than where I work. Take advantage of lab and the tutor.

You get what you put in. His lectures are recorded and posted in D2L which helped alot. There are lots of available resources for your projects office hours, lab, tutoring etc. My recommendation for passing this class is to watch his videos, read the chapters before lecture ,attend every lab, step through his exercises, help from Daniel is a MUST!

Took this class online. After the introductory forum post the teacher was nowhere to be found. He did not interact with his students throughout the course, yet required that they interact between themselves via 300 word forum posts. Would not recommend this professor.

Professor expects far too for an introductory programming class. Test are hard/tricky. First half of the semester was cake then gets harder afterwards. Lectures, exercises, & reading materials hardly preps you up for his assignments. I work in an IT department and find this class rather challenging for your beginner programmer.

Midterm is tricky and the final was brutal. Programming is hard so why make it more complicated than it already is ? I don't understand why he purposely makes his exams tricky. 12 projects 100 points each, 12 quizzes(10 pts each), midterm(200 pts), final(400). That's TWO WHOLE letter grades for the final alone. Are you serious?

One of the hardest class I've ever taken. He's a very intimidating teacher. Not so approachable. If you are unsure of something be sure to refer to the book before asking him any questions.(You'll soon know why). Expects perfection from his students meaning he'll deduct points from any line of code that is missing or mistyped. Pop quizzes.Enjoy =)

He required 60 pages of reading every chapter. I am not exaggerating. The class is easy but the reading requirement makes it almost intolerable. Also, the quiz's are based off of the authors opinion. Some of the questions have more than one correct answer and you must choose one based off of what the book's opinion is. Worst entry class

Took class online. tests & quiz are word for word out of the book. Fair teacher, some of the questions on test contradict book; if they do, let Bob know and he will fix it. Read book and read ALL instructions for assignments. You'll do fine. Good teachin

He is the best Professor. Programming can be extremly difficult, but if you really want to be good on what you want to do for the rest of your life, he is the ONE! He is very detail and his assignment can be hard but it is doable. He is very helpful, just ask him. you have to do all assignments. Every excercises and example are useful.
