Comment:
Taught like a typical undergrad reading course. Alas this was a graduate seminar, and best word to describe it was 'stifling.' If you have a brain, and want to move beyond what an aging generation of critics have to say, don't take the class. If you wish to observe a tired discussion packed with a bunch of acolytes from his cocktail parties, do.

I found him to be belligerent, stuffy, full of himself, self obsessed, moody, not very smart!

Great professor. Knows his stuff. Obviously loves teaching. Manages to cover everything, while also encouraging discussion. Warm and sensitive, yet appropriately formal. Perhaps a tad too humble, but otherwise a gem.

Doesn't read anything about Shakespeare unless it's the critics. Doesn't remember the plays very well. He may be good for the beginning Shakespeare enthusiast, but he's a waste to anyone with any degree of advanced knowledge.

Comment:
Teacher loves to hear himself talk. His syllabus says he encourages students to share opinions and ideas, but when they differ from his or the critics, he will shoot them down with a certain meanness of intellect. This man has his own fiefdom in the department but is utterly useless unless a students wants to look at criticism and blindly agree.

Comment:
Professor is well-versed in criticism, but fails to review primary material before referring to it. He makes severe errors when he talks about the content of plays, their characters, and the playwright. The instructor showed a tendency towards sloth and disinterest when dealing with students who needed assistance

He is such a cute old man! He really cares about his students and how they are doing in the class. He seems so enthusiastic about Shakespeare, which I have never seen before. He is so genuine and nice. Take him if you have the chance. However, at times, he makes you feel unsure when you comment.

Hands down, his Shakespeare class was one of my most memorable at Drew, way back first semester Froshling year, fall of 98. Definately a class I'd've taken twice if I could have.
