DO NOT TAKE. The most work intensive, most hardcore FPA class, yes FPA class you will ever take. Homeworks take hours to do, and he is such a harsh grader. Do not understand why he makes it so difficult and give so much homework. If I had to take him again, I wouldnt. I would drop out of college and work the corner.

The way Lapa grades is very difficult when it shouldn't be. Photography is about being different and creative but lapa is very picky on how you can be different and unique. It has to be his vision of uniqueness. He informs his students to go by the readings but changes his mind. I recommend to do all the extra credit to keep your grade up.

Lapa is very friendly and always accessible via email. He has online class meetings once a week, attend for credit or submit a bulleted summary of class from the recording. Crystal-clear about expectations but does give a lot of work for an online course. Expect to work, this is an extremely hard A. Also a very tough grader. Not just taking pics

Anyone reading this, do not even think about taking this course, save yourself. An art course should not be more difficult than any of your major's courses. This class is equivalent to taking 4 classes. Homeworks take about 4-6 hours to complete. Videos he assigns to watch are 45+ mins long. 6 projects. Worst professor at Iona up to date.

He really isn't as bad as people make him out to be. There is a lot of work especially in the beginning and you need a lot of pictures but he sends you the list of photos you need early on so if you go away you can use those photos from before the semester starts. He is crystal clear with expectations so as long as you follow them you will get an A

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE! Homework every night from day 1, 2 papers from visiting 2 museums in New York City, 2 papers from visiting 2 artistic events on campus, and 1 final paper he doesn't let you know about until finals week. If you are looking for an elective, I highly suggest you stay away from not only this class but teachers as well.

This "Photography and Digital Manipulation" course is not what you'll except. I wanted a photoshop course (which is what the description for the class said we'd be using) but it was JUST photography and he wants you to do about 4 assignments per week. It's not that serious, I just cant with this class. Nice teacher but stupid course

This is my favorite class, I have had I have had about 6 years of art training and experience and even though I'm in a level one class I see that I am improving and he is really helpful and nice. He also knows what he is doing and does demonstrations. Also helpful critiques.

He is a nice guy but a bad teacher. He does not help at all, I email him asking him to explain one of the assignments to me and he tells me to read it again. He barely reminds you of the discussion boards which are very important and he close to never posts the assignments on blackboard. He mentions it once and expects you to remember it -_-.

I thought maybe people were overreacting in their reviews of him. Wrong. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I've been doing photography for almost 4 years now and am actually pretty good. He grades EXTREMELY unfairly. WAY too much work. Expects too much. He's also VERY rude and don't expect him to be nice to you. Don't make my mistake...believe these reviews.
