Not the best teacher, and he its very boring. I took AP Art History last year so that is the only way I passed the class because the material is the exact same. My minor is art history and he wast all that helpful. As long as you read the text you should be fine.

Terrible class. He isn't specific with what will be on the tests, lectures are extremely boring. For an art 100 class it requires way too much studying. He also talks down his students just about every class. Would not recommend.

Professor Niccolls is a condescending man who does not teach well at all. All he did in this class was show us pictures of artwork and expect us to remember random facts about them for the test (like their size or their age). Your grade is mainly your tests/quizzes so its stressful when it is so hard to prepare for his exams.

This was by far the most ridiculous class I have ever taken. Could be an easy class but he intentionally makes it tougher. Does not specify what you need to know for tests. Doesn't specify grading breakdown on syllabus and only gives you two tests and a few quizzed which make up your entire grade. Very boring to sit through and he is condescending.

The class is easy enough, but given the subject matter it is excessively time consuming for a 100 level fine arts elective. Just choose a different course if you have no interest in art

Do Not Take Him! Like someone previously said, he talks down to students and thinks he is better then everyone. He also thinks that Art is the most important subject. Its 2 quizzes, a midterm and final. All Multiple choice. However each question had 8 rather than 4 choices. I would not recommend taking him him

this class is pretty boring..you just watch slides, take notes, and listen to him lecture for 3 hours a week.. but there is no homework, just reading, 2 quizzes, and 2 exams.. the class is an easy A if you pay attention and study for exams(all multiple choice).. your grade is only based on the exams though- you HAVE to study! I would take him again

Super easy class, must at least skim the book before classes or quizzes. Two quizzes, midterm and final exam, all multiple choice. The class gets boring and he really expects class participation. Easy teacher, take with him if you can.

Extremely boring. No interest to attend his class, but attendance is mandatory. Textbook reading is required. He makes jokes nobody understands and is rude, ignorant and redundant. Makes you feel stupid. Everyone hated going to this class.

Fair enough teacher, I learned the basics. The class wasn't hard, I just memorized the definitions of the words in bold in the textbook, and stopped doing the actual reading and got away with it. All in all, if you need an Art class, he will do just fine.

As others have said, you must READ and PAY ATTENTION. If you do so, Professor Niccolls' class is easy and rewarding. He's got a great deadpan sense of humor which individuals of lesser intelligence might not get - if you're an Epsilon Semi-Moron, don't bother, but if you can think your way out of a cardboard box, this is a great class!

The first half of the book is really dry, but the second half isn't so bad and kinda interesting. Classes are kinda dry - straight 1:15 lecture - but the tests and quizzes are easy as long as you read. I'd recommend him if you want to fulfill your art requirement.

VERY BORING. Bring a pillow, dark classroom, dry powerpoints, dry lectures...same thing every class. No homework, a midterm and a final, 50 questions each...not that difficult but you need to know specifics about art. By the time the tests come you have tons of pages full of art pieces with only a vague idea of what to study.

Nice guy with a dry sense of humor. Sit and take notes, no homework, midterm and final (both 50 multiple choice questions) and extra credit paper. Review the text if you know nothing about art history.
