Prof Bulgutch's record in media should speak for itself but here I am anonymously rating him anyways. I really enjoyed my time with him through and through, even some of the graphic news stories he'd show in class. Definitely need to keep up with weekly mini-assignments but if you are even a decent student you should be able to succeed no problem.

Really liked mark's vibe and I liked how the class was very conversational and the TA's were great too. There were about 3 easy assignments that had to be done each week. The feedback on assignments wasn't very helpful but it's easy to get 90's or above on everything. I'm not a fan of journalism but he made the content interesting with his humour.

Professor Bulgutch is an extremely experienced journalist, and clearly knows a ton about his field. However, he expects his students to have the same amount of journalism experience as him, and marks as if you have decades of experience in the field. But with that being said, he gives a lot of easy marks so its your choice.

Everything in the course requires listening to lectures. Bulgutch encourages you to speak your mind in class and is willing to discuss it with you. For students whose first language is not English, each class may be like a 3-hour listening test, but other than that the class is great, it will not make me feel as rigid as other courses.

This was such a easy mark class. You kind of have to show up to class because all his lectures are needed to do discussion posts and quizzes but they're sooo easy and most of the marks go towards those, he drops your 2 lowest marks on quizzes and class comments and there's NO MIDTERM OR EXAMMMM

Best elective I've ever taken! No textbook, but you must attend the majority of classes (2 skips allowed). Do not have to take notes, but must listen (10 min quiz at the end of class, however very easy. No midterm, no exam, all in class, and very few written assignments. Overall very interesting lectures and amazing GPA booster! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

He is pretty cool and his lectures arent really lectures, but discussions. You dont really need to take notes but just listen. He is a tough marker but there isnt many assignment in which he marks + they dont count for much. Half of your grade literally relies on going to class so its not Hard. Its a good class

This class requires you to just show up and if you pay attention its an easy A. He can be a tough marker but luckily they aren't worth a lot. Lectures are relaxed and interesting. Found this class great even as a science student.

Mark has a lot of experience in his field after working in the journalism industry for many years. He has discussion based classes that you have to attend in order to do the weekly quiz & discussion post. Very few projects. Pretty much show up, listen to lecture & you should do good. He's an entertaining prof who does what he can to help

Mark is someone you love or hate. He can be very rude to students and he is not open minded at all, it is his way or the highway. He marks hard and you have to be present to every class. His lectures often start off well but by 1 hour in youre already totally zoned out and, you even cant leave because there are quizzes at the END of class.

Very rude and very condescending. Acts like this is a professional journalism course and will leave very rude and unnecessary comments on your assignments. Also makes fun of students work in front of everyone (with their names displayed).

Mark is good prof. He knows his subject mater. At times I thought at times his marking was a little too harsh however in the class I took there were plenty of give away marks. He really is a nice and funny guy that has had an impressive career. I think most people would enjoy his lectures

Bulgutch is informative and experienced. He has his own perspective, but he encourages you to form your own opinions. I left every lecture with a greater understanding of news and journalism.
