Comment:
Caring during COVID, and was really my first prof to take it seriously. Grade is on your project and test, so few things and the paper can seem daunting. She doesn't do email, but is accessible during her office hours religiously.

Her lectures are mostly just reading off the slides. Her tests are weird, a lot of the questions have nothing to do with class content but you can pass them if you study. Participation marks and the assignment were worth a lot and very very easy.

Her grading on our presentation was harsh but less so on the written assignments. Her instructions outline what she wants, so don't overthink them, even if they don't seem to make sense. I don't know how much I learned from the lectures that wasn't on the slides and she often got details of her examples wrong.

POL 501 was taught by Patricia O'Reilly but assignments were marked by TA Adam McDonald who is an unreasonably tough marker. There were multiple mistakes in the syllabus . She was unable to pronounce United Arab Emirates, instead pronouncing it as "Emm-ret-teez", which is wrong. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about politics, but boring.

Comment:
The worst instructor I have had throughout my entire schooling period. She's incredibly rude and condescending. My biggest gripe is how she sets aside a small time window to explain what she actually wants in assignments, and she's horrible at referencing the textbook she uses. It's hardly worth the purchase. She clearly doesn't like teaching.

I never went to her class because all she does in read directly from the slides. She marks super tough and is never clear on what she wants on assignments. She seems nice but she's super weird. Would not recommend.

Comment:
Patricia O'Reilly seems nice. However, I would never take one of her classes ever again. Her 40% paper is extremely hard; worst paper I've had to write throughout my undergrad. Her lectures are basically her reading off her slides - not motivating whatsoever. She seems quite scattered. Avoid at all costs!

This was by far the worst professor I have ever had in my university career. She is the least helpful and she is extremely arrogant and rude. Her exam is made as if she doesn't want you to do well and as far as her marking goes, I don't think SHE even knows what she's looking for.

The professor definitely embodies the definition of a scatter brained individual! She managed to take what should've been an interesting and informative course and made it agonizing! She appears to be knowledgable in the course, however she does not know how to convey the knowledge in a manner in which she is actually teaching her students!

I found her course very interesting. She was confusing at times when it came to the power point presentations. If you put enough effort into your power points and understand the overall topic - you will do well on the final exam as well, which is connected to the power point presentations. Try to participate in class. It makes a difference.

Avoid her class/Patricia is a poor pub. spker $ instr/ Is not at qualified to teach. She is condescending/has a nasty attitude/uses same power pt's for diff. classes/ lec. not linked to the bks/not take the time to put proper lecture notes together/must be teaching because she has friends in high place/is useless/no personality/there for pay

The worse professor I have ever had throughout mine entire university career. Don't know where to start. Her lectures are useless, they consist of questions or videos. She refuses to answer questions on exams. She's rude, talks way to fast. The whole class was a waist of my time.

Worst professor I've had at Ryerson so far. She is monotone, rude, talks ridiculously fast, and does not use a mic. You will lose many brain cells in her lectures. You also have to buy an online American textbook that you will use maybe 4 times. The G.A. marks really hard too, like chill bro it's a second year undergrad course.

I had difficulties following at first; but when I started reading all the material before coming to class, everything mad sense. She is approachable and helpful. The student that did the marking for her was a hard marker. But I discussed it with her and she re-marked the test.

Comment:
She consistently fails to turn on/correctly use her microphone. Wastes lecture time struggling with & showing pointless CBC videos. The lecture slides provided are filled with questions, answered by questions. Don't try to look for the "G.A." for help, you'll likely leave more confused. Try to avoid this professor.

Class required for POG students but BORING as hell. Though as an upside you do not have to attend lectures as everything is on the slides. Nice prof.
