One of the most boring classes ever, but its very easy and attendance doesn't matter. Tests are straight forward and easy. You don't even need to buy the book if you take decent notes.

I really respect and enjoy learning from Dr. Fraser. He's an incredibly nice and well spoken person. He gets so excited about his subject and it makes learning about China, South America, or research methods much more interesting. Read, PARTICIPATE, study the study guide, go to class and you've got a B+/A-. Pay attention to the clock during exams.

I agree that Fraser's grading system can seem abstract. But if you come to every class, meet with him about your paper, answer a question every class, and study his study guides, you can definitely make an A of some sort. He's really knowledgeable and helpful in person. He doesn't expect anything unreasonable. I have enjoyed two classes with him

Dr. Fraser was a great teacher for political analysis. He helped significantly with getting the project done and gave a lot of freedom for what subject matter and type of research process you could do. Granted I did not gain as great of a knowledge of SPSS as I would have liked, but overall his class was great. Work hard and you will get a B+ to A

Strict attendance policy. The subject matter was a bit boring, but I think that is the class, not the professor. Overall, I thought it was an easy class. As long as you come to class and take notes, the exams are super easy, and if you actually put work into the huge research paper, you will be fine. Boring class, but it's just a dry subject.

Great professor. Cute, funny, makes you interested. Taking another of his classes. Study, read the texts, do your work, and expect a B to B+. Speak your mind, read the news(this isn't a must), and have some interest in the workings of the world. Be open and just enjoy his class. Cool stuff.

I experienced the same thing as the person below. I went to class, participated, made A-B's on the tests, and received a B- for the class. His lectures are good, but his grading method and expectations are questionable. You?ll learn a lot if you pay attention, but you may never learn why you got your final grade.

Fraser is really nice, knows what he is talking about but is somewhat dry. Class is boring and grades are somewhat arbitrary (I played poker on my comp and got 100% in partic. but one kid who asked tons of questions failed partic.) I never opened the book except to look up words in the glossary before a test (test are really easy) Huge Huge paper

Love, love, love Dr. Fraser. Cutest man ever. He gets so excited about teaching and really passes that onto the students in class. Will stay in his office with you for hours just to make sure you have understand everything. I had him for 14, and if you follow directions you can do really well. One of my fave profs and classes at furman.

He moves very slowly through the text books. We didnt even cover a third of what was on the syllabus. It is difficult to communicate to him unless you go in person. i received the same grade on everything i turned in. not that difficult of a class, but its intro so it cant be too detailed.

His lectres are extremely unorganized. He will start on a list of 3 and never make it to his third point. He pulls his IDs out of thin air. He grades fairly harshly. Made me question whether or not I wanted to continue my poli-sci major. I always heard he was "easy." Not the case. Wouldn't do over again.
