Very passionate about Physics. Easy to follow and understandable lectures and notes. The little tidbits of Calculus he has a tendency to throw in was a little hard to follow. But overall, he's always happy to help. :)

I had him last year. He's fantastic. Went a little over our heads with the calculus sometimes-but his tests are fair. Class was interesting, he's a genius, happy to help his students, and is really great at training you to think like a real physicist. Exam is really hard but if you study and are prepared you will feel very accomplished after!

he is good teacher but wants every thing to be done in detail like to solve a equation using a formula you will have to first solve how you got the formula then solve your question using that formula, the tests and difficult and gives students tention.clicker quiz is difficult.be aware of this teacher

If passion for physics drives you to take this course then taking the course with him will be an awesome experience. Interact with prof. He is very helpful also I find his tests easy. Hard concepts like Rotational are not tested extensively so you end up getting a good grade. He has that Physicist charisma and is indeed inspiring.Good Luck to all.

Absolutely amazing prof! By no means easy, but tests are definitely fair. I got a B+ and my test grades were all over the place from 48% to 93%. If you can get this prof, STAY! Prepares you very well for second year courses and makes you want to take as many physics courses as possible! Just a great prof!

Great prof. Great use of technology, and very interesting lectures. His tests can be difficult, but he assigns many practice problems. He is willing to help you outside of class if needed. Definitely a great prof to motivate taking future physics courses.

Dr. Horbatsch is the man! The one thing you will learn from this course is an understanding and intuition of physics. He goes above and beyond to make you understand what you are learning. Do not attempt to memorize how to solve a problem because that is useless. Instead, understand the underlying concepts and you will do fine. Amazing professor!

phys 1010 makes more sense when you understand basic calculus. he doesn't draw enough conclusions of what he lectured at the end of the class so i was left with the impression that there was so much stuff and i couldn't even draw the main points. textbook, giordano is meh but funny, the student solution manual is horrible, do not buy it!

Good prof, definitely one of the best profs I've ever had at York. Great use of technology (presentations, videos, clicker quizzes, simulation programs, etc..). BUT there was too much calculus in his physics course. Most people taking phys1010 are first-year undergrads. He starts doing crazy math for like half an hour and 90% of the class is lost.

This professor is amazing. He really knows what he's talking about and helps you to really understand what physics is all about. Anyone who rated this professor poorly missed the whole point of the course. If you love physics then you'll do well.

Horrible, boring, useless class. I'll give him one thing though, he's very interesting. In class he lectures mostly calculus (What's the point of a calc lecture?). He always mentions upper year material that we will never use. He confuses you and you never know what to expect on tests. He hates engineers. Stay away for your own good.

I think he is a fine and responsible professor who does all he can to make everybody understand what he's talking about. Even though sometimes he himself doesn't know that. :-) He's also a bit too sensitive about the background noise in his 140-student class. You better keep your mouth shut if you're listening to his lecture.

He is the greatest Physics prof at York for sure. If you ever see him in his office, he is extremely helpful and genuinely cares for his students and offers great advice. He also makes sure you understand the CONCEPTS and don't memorize it. Tests are HARD, but just do the questions he assigns, go to class and take a lot of notes!
