Amazing professor. Class is fairly easy but the material is so interesting it wouldn't matter if it was difficult. He can ramble at times but if you stick with him he has some very intelligent and thought provoking things to say.

Comment:
His class isn't as easy as you'd think, only because he's a tough grader and looks for specific things. He will give you an outline ahead of time so barely any reading is necessary-plan it around the topic you choose. He rambles and is unclear, lectures almost useless. In-Class essay based class with a 12 page midterm to do on your own.

Professor Cohen is great! He genuinely cares about his students doing well and makes himself available to help whenever you need it. He's also really funny and has many great stories about historical events he was around for. Sometimes he can be a little repetitive and long winded but it's a great class.

VERY knowledgeable about subject matter. Tends to ramble and go on tangents, but if you can actually follow the lecture he has a lot to say. Light workload, interesting class, Cohen is a lot of fun to shmooze with.

The saying goes for a cohen class, its pretty easy to get an A and nearly impossible to not get a B. That being said in order to get an A you should go to class, interact with cohen, meet with him. He is a very interesting guy with knowledge on almost anything. If you take his classes seriously it will pay off!

You have to take a class with Cohen. He knows the subjects that he teaches better than anyone I have ever met knows anything. Of course, class is not mandatory and you can do well without fully applying yourself, but his knowledge and expertise is an extremely valuable resource. Not taking advantage of it is just foolish.

Yes, his lectures are not as organized as other professors, but that's his style. Most people think he's an easy professor, which is true in that completing all the assignments on time will probably result in a good grade. On the other hand, some of the content of his classes is in fact difficult if you care to delve deeper into it.

I really enjoyed this class. I learned a ton and now find 1960s history extremely interesting. Be prepared that it is a very self-sufficient taught class. You take the notes, you read the assigned material, you write the papers. He won't quiz you or make sure you're keeping up. I got an A and thought he was a very fair grader.

Easily sidetracked, tough grader. Conspiracy is an interesting class and provides you at least with a lot of sources for info. Spent too much time on some subjects and not nearly enough on others

Cohen is probably the only professor at Brandeis I really disliked. I've never had anyone so obsessed with his own work. We had to read this stupid article he wrote and droned on about. He also told me that I was pronouncing my last name incorrectly. And he gave the same JFK lectures multiple times in the same class.

Jerry is a great professor. He teaches on very interesting topics (imo) and is very educated on them. He does repeat himself from class to class, especially if you take multiple classes with him, but he still is able to make it interesting. He is def. the best lecturer I've ever had the pleasure of taking classes with.

Take Conspiracy if nothing else -- it's excellent. He also picks GREAT paper topics: you really feel like you're getting what you wanted out of the class. Beware that he goes on tangents -- if you follow them, however, they all actually relate to the matter at hand. Repeats himself occassionally.

He's obsessed with conspiracy theories and loves to talk about how much of a role he played in the 1960s. It wasn't much of a role, to be sure. He just knew some people. Also, he stood me up for two consecutive appointments and showed no remorse when he finally acquiesced to meeting with me and didn't break the appointment.
