This class wasn't too bad in terms of difficulty. There's extensive readings and lectures. Tests are weighted so heavily compared to quizzes which were typically only worth 2 points overall. Homework assignments were always worth less than 5 points where exams were out of 100 so if you don't test well, it's hard to get a good grade overall

I absolutely loved Dr. Rech. He cares so much about his students and was always willing to meet with me outside of class. The answers to all the exams and quizzes are right in his lectures and powerpoints. He actually inspired me to pick up a minor in geology. If you have the opportunity to take a class with Dr. Rech, do it.

Great professor. Very clear and organized. I had an 8:30 so I usually walked into class in a pretty bad mood but I always left smiling. He makes you want to learn.

From my experience in class, Professor Rech does not do a good job teaching the material. His exams have many questions that are not from class and are from incredibly specific parts of the textbook that seem to have little relation to what is being taught in class. Going to his lectures feels like a big waste of time, but is definitely required.

Easy class to get an A if you put in the work of reading the chapters before lectures and completing homework assignments. Exams aren't a cakewalk but you get 50-55 question exam, take it once with no outside help, then take it again open note open book open discussion. Part 1 75% of grade part 2 25% of grade. Clicker questions required in class.

Prof. Rech is one of those teachers you can tell is just teaching to get the research grant. The class is incredibly boring and the material is useless and the exams are worth a ridiculous amount (60%) of your overall grade.

Took Dr. Rech for GLG 335 in 2016 at the Oxford Campus. Overall enjoy the class. It is not the easiest class you actually have to read the textbook study and go to lectures. The class was worth it though. Rech is a funny guy who cares about the students. The material is interesting and is one of the few classes I actually enjoy.

Smart and funny. Expects you to pay attention, study, and do the work. The homeworks are difficult, but as long as you ask him for specific help, he will help you out a lot. You get what you put in.

As much as he knows about the subject, he is an awful professor. He sets very unrealistic expectations of his students, this is a Miami Plan class and he teaches it as if it is not. Little background information given on topics. He DOES NOT POST POWERPOINTS ONLINE and he also flies through them in class, so you better be able to write fast.

He is a chill professor and there is not much homework, but lots of reading. The exams cover a large amount of material and can be very specific. It is necessary read, as there is an online reading quiz for each class, and take notes in class.

Very interesting guy who clearly cares a lot about his subject. Does his best to keep things interesting, even for the slackers in the back who are just there for Miami Plan credit. If you do the work (reading 2 chapters per week, the occasional reading question worksheet) you will be absolutely fine.

Rech is a good teacher, and he lectures at a good pace. He gives very detailed study guides!! The homework really isn't too bad; the first one is the worst, and he will help you if you go to office hours. The exams have an open note/partner portion the last 25 mins, and its worth 25% of the grade for that test!!!! Expect some busy work though.

Jason Rech is the worst professor I have ever had at Miami University. This semester, he has been extremely degrading to our class and ridiculously rude when I have asked for help outside of class. It is very apparent he thinks very little of his students. I would never take this class, or any other class, from Jason Rech.

Jason Rech is one of my favorite professors. Some people complain about the coursework, but it's not bad. Reading quizzes take just a few minutes before each class. You also have just a few homework assignments and tests in the class. Overall Jason is a awesome teach and more than willing to answer any question. He is very passionate about geology

I liked this class, but I was shocked at the course load. It was a lot of work, but if you're interested in the subject you'll get a lot out of it. Reading quizzes before every class, on top of extra homework assignments, and 4 exams including final. Keep this in mind when signing up

Dr. Rech is probably one of my favorite professors I've ever had. I was never bored in his class, but that could have just been the content. He is laid back, but strict with the course work. Make sure you do the readings!

Rech is a good professor. Friendly and the course load is light; reading quizzes which require you to skim the textbook before each class, and 1-2 longer homework assignments sometime during the semester. He doesn't put powerpoints online, and he has clicker questions, so be forewarned. If you attend class and do the quizzes, you will easily pass.
