Horrible professor, tests are unnecessarily difficult, he is incredibly rude, he always makes mistakes when grading, and at times refuses to correct it. You don't want a professor who plays with your grade like this.

Hard of hearing, can be really condescending towards students and his tests are full with typos.. Made an A, but learned nothing.

In Class: Sit and follow exactly what he does on the screen for an hour and a half. This is the homework you turn in. Then for exams he bases them off the homework. They are multiple choice and as long as you were paying attention it really is not that bad. However, the only thing I found useful was the excel portion of the class.

Collins is really old, hard of hearing, and probably should have retired 20 years ago. He is not helpful in class with explaining anything, but he does do all of the homework for you. The tests can be confusing and he always has 6 different versions that usually have mistakes he doesn't notice until you are taking the exam. Take another professor.

He's super willing to help, but you WILL have to go to office hours. His tests are very confusing, but if you go get help they get easier. You CANNOT skip the class; 30% (you can get 100 on this part) is assignments he does for you in class. Good professor, would recommend it if you already have some background for technology.

This guy. He's super old and hard of hearing, but he does all the assignments in class with you. If you pay attention, it should be alright, but I learned nothing.

The funniest teacher I have ever had. You will laugh the whole class and actually enjoy attending. Does all the HW exercises in class, your only actually HW is to print it out and bring it the next class. Tests can be confusing but if you study you will do fine.

I had no prior knowledge of Access or Excel (other than the common sense portion of Excel) and I got an A in the class. Yes he has a VERY hard time hearing, and yes he's confusing in class sometimes, but as long as you attend class, and GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS before tests (ask ques. and he tells what will be on the test), you'll do great.

He really just needs to retire. He's rude and confusing, unhelpful and scattered. For the way his class works, it SHOULD be easy, but he is just so old that its almost impossible to follow him. Doable class but I would just save yourself the stress and take someone else.

Mr. Collins should no longer be teaching. He is VERY confusing and has a hearing aid problem. People had to stand up in order for him to be able to notice they have a question. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ACCESS, otherwise, you will be absolutely lost!

He does the assignments for you in class and barely explains what is going on. However, the class is pretty easy if you at least attend class. He also raises the cutoff for an A. I had a solid A going into the final but ended up with an A- because I could only miss 3/40 questions to maintain the A.

Hes a funny guy and tells stories all class about random things. Easy class but the test will trick you on some stuff. Pay attention to all details. I thought I got a 100% on every test then when I got it back I would realize the little tiny details he got me on. Make sure you turn in every exercise. Never took attendance the entire year.

I would highly recommend Prof. Collins; he made a potentially really boring class enjoyable. Yes, he does tend to tell stories, but I still learned really effectively. He works you through exercises instead of lecturing. To get an A on tests you have to pay attention to details, but he gives you exactly what you need to know before the test.

He is a good professor who knows his stuff, and you can learn a lot in his class. If you go to class, take notes, and try to understand him (which can be hard to do sometimes) you can do well. The best advice is to read everything he gives you, including the syllabus, very carefully. There are trick questions on the tests that he will not have gone over in class, but if you understand the concepts, they are not impossible.

It's a love hate/relationship with Collins. He's old, he's hilarious, and he is sharp for his age. Knows the content extremely well. Feel like he isn't a great teacher however. Has little patience to help out in class. Much more helpful during office hours. Only take him if you're sharp in Excel/Access and know you won't need much assistance.

Arguably the worst teacher in the entire school. Lectures are uninteresting and irrelevant. Tests are ridiculously, unnecessarily difficult. 10-points, so miss any and your grade suffers. Highly unrecommended. Take literally anyone else.

Jim Collin's ITOM class is very easy to attend, as he is a funny guy and will make you laugh, but his tests are extremely hard. He does not teach the material well, and makes ridiculous tests that have nothing to do with what you learn in class. I would definitely reccomend people to take another teacher for ITOM if they want a good grade.

I definitely DON'T recommend this teacher. The highest grade made in this class when I spoke to people was a B-. Has 10 multiple choice so if you miss two problems you are screwed. You can't ask questions because he can't hear you. I went to his office for office hours one time and he wasn't even there. Impossible to make a decent grade.
