Unless you're a statistical genius, you need to go to the TAs for help. YOU WILL NOT LEARN A THING IN THIS CLASS. He's smart but can't teach. Your best bet is to go to the TA for individual assignments, review sessions, and tests. Yes, I got a B+ in the class, but I worked for it and did not pay any attention in class and skipped class as well.

this class is absolutely a joke. THe TAs basically teach the class while the "professor" tells random stories not related to statistics at all. Keep your sanity and avoid this class.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had, the entire class would talk about how they didnt understand anything he was teaching. Didnt help with anything and was absolutely horrible at explaining any concepts. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone.

Terrible professor instead of doing examples he just writes formulas on the board and says figure it out. By the end of class it just looks like hieroglyphics. Only way to do well to get help from the teaching assistants.

I also took Stats with this so called professor a few years ago as a student at SUNY New Paltz, and I too am appalled at the fact that he has not been released from the business school. (Probably because of a rumor that he donates to the school and makes them money). Easily the worst professor I have ever had in any subject matter.

I took Mr. Heiner for Stats 1 a long time ago. I am surprised he is still teaching at SUNY New Paltz. He really did not do a good job conveying the subject matter to the class. He was all over the place, mostly taking about his endeavors as a business consultant. I would not have done well at all if not for a tutor and the extra credit opportunity

Prof Heiner is an awesome teacher, however he mostly told stories in his lecture. The only way to really pass this class is to see the tutors. He allows to have formulas for test taking. You WILL need to know how to apply it. I took his bus stat 1 and 2 in 2012,2013.

This man does not teach. He rambles on all class, and gets off on random tangents and doesn't actual teach stats. He is a very intelligent Professor but doesn't understand how to dumb down the information to a college level. If you get stuck with him just go to the TA's. He expects you to do everything by hand with no R Studio. Do Not Take.

He made me love statistics. I have a learning disability that made me feel like I would never be able to do that kind of math but spending time with his TA's and going over my work with him step by step changed my mind! He teaches you cool shortcuts, just be sure to read the book. Homework assignments have a confusing layout.

Lectures not very engaging. Will mostly tell stories. Gives work unrelated to what he talks about in class. HOWEVER the tutors are extremely helpful. Your work in this class will be predominantly done with tutors and they'll walk you through everything. If you plan on taking stats with Heiner you will not pass if you don't visit the tutors often.

I dropped the class after day one. He seems like a really great guy and very friendly but the man can not stay focused for anything. I think hes well intention but it seems like teaching bores him. I'm an A student and have no trouble putting in the work, but I'm not going to take a class with a teacher who has no interested in the material.

He's a great professor and I found READING THE TEXTBOOK helped me do well. Anyone who says he's a horrible professor is the kind of student who is looking for handouts so they can do less work to get an A. If you go to his office hours and show him that you're really trying he will give you nothing less than a B, regardless of exam scores.

Would take again. I thought this class was going to be terrible but it really wasn't. He's very intelligent but can get a little off track at times which is fine because his stories are pretty interesting but if you study at home as well as going to class and go to the tutor you should be able to get an A or B easily.

Literally does not teach, he rambles in front of the class saying a bunch of words that make me wonder how he was ever hired. I am convinced that any good review on here is written by him personally because anyone with the brain capacity of a 4 year old can see that this professor absolutely sucks at his job. He is a disgrace to professors and NP.

It was a great class. If you work hard, you will definitely reap the benefit. He is willing to listen and guide you, but he expect more of you as a student. Don't use your cellphone in his class. Go to the tutors, they will make your life easier.

Prof Heiner, is one of the very few great and caring professors in the business department. He actually wants students to learn real life things, and not just from the books. He is hilarious and tells a lot of funny stories. If you go into the class with an open-mind you will truly enjoy the class and find it very laid-back.
