He really makes you work for your grade, but he is a joy to have in class. He does tend to interrupt students quite a bit, but he is usually very nice about it. My class made a group chat and it honestly made the class so much better.

This class was wild to say the least. Be prepared to read lots of X-rated content and analyze it too. Colin is funny but sometimes unconcise about what he wants. Class grade is based largely on participation, a presentation, and a final essay. Tends to give B-'s to everyone for everything, but overall a positive experience.

a lot of weekly work and not all the readings are easy so don't take if you're not a strong reader/writer. He's a nice guy though and he wants you to do well.

A phenomenol teacher for students interested in considering how to understand text or film. He is not for students who ezpect to leave a class "knowing" something. For the former type of student, I most highly reccomend his class. For the later, do not take his class.,, you'll just be a buzz kill, He is kind, funny, friendly and brilliant.

Comment:
Professor and his followers - our Aristotelians / Utilitarians - will never know what "Other" means to them. The problem with their critique of canon is the discourse of the Other, the turning of the face, is simply absent. On his seminar, I see the future that will bolster up our university system.

I had the opportunity to take his London literature class in London, and in retrospect it was great. The class presentations/discussions were a drag, but if you need to take an Englit class, this is the way to go! Plus, Professor MacCabe takes you on various field trips in London - much different teaching style than most professors. Great prof!

He is the king of extremely enlightening, though desultory, ranting. I have learned alot from him, but certainly not in an orderly fashion. He is intimidating at first, but is actually a sympathetic (not easy) grader. I would not recommend him to any non-english majors or underclassmen.

He's very knowledgable, but that's his strong point that I've seen. He doesn't listen well, isn't organized, and is flippant, which totally derails classroom discussion. Schedules and sometimes cancels Saturday classes without any regard for the schedules of students. Not entirely bad, but not good.
