Everything Ive read here is an accurate representation of this professor. His teaching style? Pathetic. He puts in no effort what so ever into this course. He is lazy and uninterested in his students. Utterly condescending. Its appalling that he makes as much money as other professors who actually teach and care about their work. This man sucks

I can honestly say this is the worst prof I have had in my 4 years at the university. I have never had such a miserable prof who responds in such a condescending way or gives such little instruction. He basically flicks the 3 assignments at you during the first week and tunes out for the rest of the semester. The course is outdated.

I have never felt the need to rate a prof before now but I feel it is necessary because of the anxiety attack one of his readings caused. A warning to future students that some material may contain rape content. When I politely suggested a trigger warning for the future vulnerable students he let me know life isnt pretty. Totally disgusted.

AVOID! he is not clear in his grading criteria, it is like a guessing game trying to figure out what he wants. It takes months to get things back, no exaggeration. He assigns a huge amount of reading and gives no instruction. If you take this course you are taking a gamble with your grades.

He posts all 3 assignments at once & tells you that you are on your own. There's 4 assigned books to read, and a HUGE course manual that's so difficult to stay focused on. The questions are somewhat blunt in the way that he doesn't really tell you what he wants specifically in the paper and since there is so much reading you just won't know either.

This professor is pretty terrible. The class has not changed in ages, though is in need of a drastic revamp. He never answers student emails, he is a tough grader, he expects you to include every detail learned for his essays (which is impossible with the 1200 word limit), and his questions lack conciseness on what he is looking for in his answers.

(Distant learning anthro) Not only does Vince read everything off Google but he is v impresise n difficult to contact taking days to respond to email. If we asked him questions in class, hed answer in an extremely condescending matter. Along with this, for 2 months he never assigned anything, leaving it all for us to do in the last month. AVOID

Took this course because others had said it was an easy elective however it is far from easy. There is SO much reading and he grades the assignments very tough.

Have him right now through Distance for an elective. The material is interesting enough, but the reading is BRUTAL. 4 books and a 400 page manual. Doesn't lecture or further explain material, just makes you read it all yourself. Inaccessible through D2L or email, rude when replying to questions, takes no interest in his students or courses. Avoid.

Took War & Aggression through Distance Education. Had to read 3 books and a 400 page manual. Evaluation consists of 3 assignments. Honestly, I haven't had too much issue. Read the text and wrote the assignments. Assignments are fair, but the reading was killer. Overall no issues. I'd have him as a prof again.

Took this course by distance. Quite a bit of reading, but an easy course overall. We had to read three books (2 novels and the text) and did three assignments based on our reading (no exams). Overall, Professor Walsh gave decent feedback to any questions. Would consider taking another course with him.

Avoid. Course material was interesting, but he is terrible. Gives you no direction for assignments (intentionally), and gives very negative feedback when he returns them. Takes forever to give grades back and is difficult to contact via e-mail or D2L.

I really loved the course content and the books he selected were excellent. That being said, he was horribly slow at returning marks and even worse at providing feedback. I received a "B", which is below my usual standard and when I asked how I could improve my mark on future assignments, he told me he didn't know how to explain it online... AVOID!

War and Aggression by distance. The prof was totally useless. ZERO feedback, discussion, etc. Took weeks to reply, had issues with email and D2L, a dinosaur that has been at Mun too long. He also re-wrote both of my concluding paragraphs on the 2 midterm essays, with no other comments or suggestions. Avoid this guy. 4 books, and a 400 page manual.

got the midterm back about two weeks before the final. You are provided with an insanly long course manual and three texts and you basically read with no real objective in mind just read and know it all! Had to cover from mesopotamia to the industrial revolution in ONE question, took three books but was still not detailed enough for him!

He should not be allowed to teach anymore. He has yet to release final grades so Im stuck with my thumb in my mouth waiting for a crucial credit. He is a biased hack who shows no interest in his students or his own courses. I encourage everyone who was displeased with his course to contact the soci department and complain. He is taking our money!!!

I took a distance course with him and he did absolutely nothing to make it enjoyable. There were no discussions, chats, additional resources. He simply gave a lengthy manual to accompany the three novels. He takes forever to get grades back to you and does the same with e-mails and discussion posts. However, his exams and marking are fair.

How has this guy kept his job? His course manual is biased and outdated, he does not respond to online questions in an online course, he did not return the mid-term until a week before the final, and he gives next to no feedback on the exams themselves. Good luck if he does respond to a problem you have, he will only tell you to ask another person.

I have taken every course this prof offers and I love his teaching style, the things he discusses in class and his flexibility. I found him easy to talk to and if you actually show you enjoy sociology he treats you well. THE BEST prof to take by distance, very clear and doesn't trick you or switch things. sparked my interest in sociology and antro
