Anonby made me love ENG and I looked forward to sitting in zoom classes. He is brilliantly smart and employs his knowledge in every lecture. He gives incredible feedback on essays, & makes every student feel appreciated and heard. Can be seen as "preachy", but he is great at gaging students in their opinions and beliefs before he gets too spiritual

Overall, he is a kind person and genuinely cares about his students. The lectures are incredibly long and I don't feel like I learned much afterward. Get ready to read, as there are two stories to read per week then discuss in class. When getting feedback on the assignments, there was not much detail and ways to improve. Just said what was wrong.

He will make you do 3 essays. First essay is 800 words, second is 1200 words, and last you have 2 hours to write 2000 words. He is a tough marker, and doesn't explain why he marked something bad. He cries during class which can be uncomfortable. Avoid if possible. He is nice, but not suited to teaching.

Best TWU english professor, don't bother with the others. He's a bit quirky, but really cares about his students & participation (i.e ended the semester early after students admitted they were struggling with other courses). Lots of assigned reading, don't stress, make a couple notes and you'll be fine. Papers (2) are based on personal reflection.

Honestly, a good professor if you did decent in English in High School. He expects you to know how to write a strong essay so you must come prepared with knowing the basics. Overall the work is just reading a short story every class and completing two papers, a group project, and a not overly difficult final.

Hes generally very friendly and open to his students. Ive heard complaints about he being too preachy during classes but I dont have a problem with that. However, he assigns significantly more reading compared to other profs who teach ENG 103. Tough marker. The final was a lot. Coming up with four 500 words essay in two hours? Get ready!

If you're already decent at English, you'll be fine. Didn't learn too much. Get ready to read at least one short story for every class, plus two novels. Participate as much as you physically can, make friends with the people around you, and do your best to prep for the final. Decent prep + decent prior writing skills should get you around an 80.

Really nice guy but very religious. This felt more like a religion class than an english class. He marks hard and pushes his beliefs on you so hard. Did not really learn anything about english other than how to make short stories relate to the Holy Spirit. Nice guy, really funny laugh, not great class.

Do not take Anonby. While he is very entertaining, you will learn nothing in this class. If you are good at english you will do fine, but if you feel more insecure in your writing, Anonby offers no room for improvement. It is reading a lot of short stories, and no progression in english fundementals. He is a hard marker, with a hard final.

Professor Anoby is a pretty good teacher to have for introductory English. He cares for his students and gives interesting lectures. Make sure you participate a lot and spend some time to talk with him after class. He'll appreciate it and it could help you get a better grade. The final is hard though so make sure you understand the stories well.

Anonby is a friendly and kind person, and he will happily answer any questions you have. I really enjoyed his lectures and he's really invested in his job. He is super passionate about literature, although I found he may have been a bit too tough of a grader for a first year course. Nice person, really cares about people.

He's an interesting guy, definitely keeps you intrigued during the lecture. I am not very good at English and I usually dread having to take those courses, however surprisingly with him I actually really enjoy the class. As someone who isn't good at English, I've never gotten better grades in it than this class. However... beware of the final!!

Professor Anonby is caring and passionate. The workload is not too heavy but you need to have a short story read for every single class (one of the stories was approx. 40 pages) and also 2 novels. The final is impossible to prepare for (4 essays, approx. 2 pages each in 2hrs and he does not give you the topics ahead). Anonby is also a hard marker.

I took him for both my 100 level English classes because he has a very light workload; one in-class essay, two home essays (each below 1300 words) and 2 quizzes (10 questions each). However, he is a slightly tough marker (going to the Writing Center will give you a better grade) and not very understanding if you miss a quiz for a legit reason.

Do not take this course if you have the option to take the same class with a different professor. All his poems revolve around Christianity which as nice as it is, it gets old. He gets very emotional about the plays and poems, to the point where he cries at them, not my cup of tea.

A bit of an emotional guy and has a crazy laugh. Incorporates Christianity into everything. The class isn't too hard, easiest first year English prof at TWU, I'd say.

For a first year student his class wasn't too bad. Boring at times and requires participation. 3 papers are assigned and marked fairly. Has a hilarious laugh and incorporates his christian perspective into everything. Everyone says his final is terrible but I thought it was ok and not crazy difficult if you know the material discussed in class.

A very caring prof with international experience growing up overseas. He is passionate about his faith and will incorporate it into everything. I really appreciated this as I am not an English major and find writing difficult. The final exam is extremely hard.
