Comment:
This class has a lot of potential. The core information is super interesting, but Dr. Martin spends 100% of class time lecturing about the reading. She essentially reiterates exactly what you were supposed to read the night before. That being said, Dr. Martin is super kind, intelligent and wants you to succeed. Will help you with homework & essays

Class is centered around a group 30-40 page final paper presented at Founder's Day. Paper is done bits at a time with around 4 drafts. Dr. Martin is very intelligent, but certainly has high expectations for her students. Highly recommend being the group leader if you're half decent at organizing (good resume material). Overall fun teacher.

I also took ENV324 with Dr. Martin. We had daily readings and would have to answer questions to them. Definitely can be tedious, but sometimes there are more engaging questions. The papers were generally pretty easy (though I tend to be good at papers so grain of salt). Still, learned some interesting stuff and shes super nice.

Big concepts explained very simply. Loved this teacher, you can really feel her passion for philosophy. There's quizzes almost every class but I sparkednotes for most of them and also you can correct them. Essays can be heavily opinionated, just make sure it's back up by good reasoning. Go to office hours if you struggling she loves to help

Dr. Martin is amazing. She truly does love Philosophy and she really knows her stuff. She always gives quizzes every class but as long as you do the required reading you should be fine. And she lets you basically retake everything you want to retake. Amazing teacher and an amazing person. The class goes by fairly quickly because it's interesting.

If you put in the work (and don't wait till the last minute on papers) you'll be fine. Also, she takes respect serIously, so be on time and pay attention.

One of the most intelligible people I have met. She also makes allusions to real life events to connect to the lecture. Attendance is not mandatory, but the lecture is so crucial to learning and papers, you'll want to attend. Reading quizzes are every class, but can retake for 100%. Pushes you to improve in writing. Lots of papers.

You have to read every class period, up to 40 pages a night. Quizzes every class period, one test and 3 essays. Essays are okay, she will let you re do anything to get as much credit as possible though.

I LOVE DR. MARTIN. Her class was completely eye opening. The only reason people dont like her class is because there is lots of reading, but if you at least skim it you should be okay for class. She lets you redo almost all papers and ALL quizzes and really just wants you to succeed. She really cares about what she teaches.

Dr. Martin is AWESOME. Her class is hard, but not impossible. If you are interested in philosophy, take her. She is so smart, and she explains things really well. Her lectures have caused me to question all of my beliefs. No physical textbook, direct readings from Hume, Plato, etc. LOVED her class. Oh and don't put off writing the essays!

I loved Dr. Martin. Yes there were papers due, but if you needed help writing it, she was able to work with you. The readings were difficult to understand but since she was so passionate about her subject, she went over the material each class in so much depth that it made everything clearer. I definitely recommend Dr. Martin!

She knows a great deal about the topic and explains the material clearly. The readings in the books are difficult, but she elaborates on it in class. The quizzes were easy, but she grades really hard on her papers. Luckily, she allows re-writes if students do poorly, so overall, most people get Bs. The class and discussions were really interesting.

really nice lady. She is very helpful and not a terrible grader. The tests (only 2!) are open-book, we only have 3 papers and no final!! Three hours is a bit much for any class, but her class actually wasn't bad. Interesting group discussions
