Comment:
Social psych can be such an interesting topic and Palfai manages to make it SO BORING. Thankfully, the class is pretty easy. Not too much work. Read articles before discussion each week. Tests are hard, but manageable if you study hard.

Very interesting class, though Palfai is pretty boring and only uses ancient video clips as examples. If you study its not hard to get an A, attend lectures and read the book because the exams draw from both and can be tricky.

By far my favorite class at BU- palfai isn't the best lecturer but i never was bored- the TA laura is SO helpful and clarifies topics - def need to do reading and work hard -but worth it- he's also such a nice man and is willing to compromise with you if you go to office hours- amazing class for an elective if you can!

Smart guy, he seems to be bored sometimes, but if you pay attention lecture is helpful.

Overall a really interesting subject...lectures get boring because palfai repeats same studies over and over lecture is not necessary just go to discussion where the tf will go over the readings and lecture topics and make sure u do the readings for the tests which are mult.choice and very concept based

Palfai reads off the slides and speaks in a monotone voice. He doesn't post the slides online so you have to go to class. Tests are usually half on the textbook and half on the Reader.

Your entire grade is based on 3 exams (Exam 1, Midterm, Final). Attendance during discussion is mandatory and since he doesn't put his lectures up, you should come to every single lecture too. The TF Tracie was so nice, as was Dr. Palfai. I studied a TON and got an A-.

His lectures are a major bore, but that's the main thing that stops this class from being awesome. He's such a sweet person and is always willing to answer questions whenever. The TA is super awesome too, and the discussions were really helpful. I recommend this class, but maybe with another teacher, even though this class is definitely fine too!

Worked very hard and received a disappointing grade. Grade based off 3 tests, all only 50 multiple choice. Worded such that the answer could be any of the options. Made hundreds of notecards and re-read everything, still got nothing but C's. Lecture is the same as reading the book. I don't think my intelligence is at fault, it's not a hard subject

Very knowledgeable about the subject matter and good at explaining concepts, but his lectures are extremely boring. TA was great and discussion was helpful, exams are almost straight from the book and course reader.

I would recommend taking this class if you are just beginning your psych major, but don't take it if you already have a lot under your belt. With a lot of classes behind me, it was pretty boring but very easy. Palfai definitely knows his stuff and has a great sense of humor if you listen carefully. TF was great.

The lectures and discussions are very easy to understand, but the tests (50 multiple choice) are difficult because all the choices given are vague. If you can deal with the pressure of having your entire grade based on two exams, go for it. TA was very sweet and helpful.

Lacks enthusiasm for the class. Doesn't know how to motivate students as he has a lackluster teaching style. Found myself checking my watch frequently! I would rate him under average.

Dreaded going to lecture. Palfai is dry and impersonal. He made the test questions vague and tricky, which is why he had to curve them so much. Just don't do badly on the tests or you're screwed--there are only three tests + the Final. No assignments, which can be good & bad!

If you have an IQ under 100, go for this class. Otherwise, you'll be bored to tears. The material is interesting the first time you read it-- then you hear it again in lecture, discussion, and review. You could probably not go to lecture and be fine.

highly eneffective teacher, he's obviously uncomfortable teaching (zero eye contact), and you don't have to go to class if you read the text. he's very nice and the TF is helpful and hot. BUT, the class is an easy A, and some of the stuff you learn is slightly interesting.
