Comment:
If you don't participate, you'd better be there every single time and ace every test. Olson grades largely on participation. You'll definitely need any books he assigns, because the tests come from book material most of the time and you'll be useless in lectures if you haven't read it. If you work hard, you will do well- even if you're a bit wrong!

Dr. Olson is one of my favorite professors that i've had at NMU. If you go to class, participate, and speak up, he's super easy to get along with. He's a super easy grader and curves most of his tests (which are pretty tough). Many people think he's rude and inconsiderate but he's just a very sarcastic person and means no harm.

Tells you right away that we won't answer email. Tells you one thing off the record and then doesn't honor it. Get everything in writing. Blames others for grammatical, spelling and clarity errors on tests. As such, its impossible to get a correct answer. Zero instruction. Zero interaction. The worst. Just collecting a paycheck.

Brad is a nice guy. He tells you you don't have to come to class but his lectures are entertaining. If you read the textbook the exams are are not hard. He gives you a lot of chances to retake tests, and extends deadlines often. He's not a tough grader.

Took his class fall semester of 2013. I wouldn't consider the class easy, but it was worth it. GO to class, SPEAK UP, read your text, and you will be just fine! Brad is super understanding and works with you; he is just very blunt and honest.

He tells you that you don't have to come to class because all assignments, tests, and quizzes are online. This class is an easy A, but lecture is very enjoyable and you learn a lot if you do actually attend. Unlimited attempts on quizzes, one attempt on each test. Just read the book before tests and you'll do fine. Brad is awesome!

Talks down to students. Not helpful at all when you ask questions. He basically calls you stupid for not knowing the answer already. He doesn't care about grades and tells the TAs to do whatever they want. He doesnt even teach anything just reads a word document that is posted online already. All work is online as well when it's not an online class

I really like Olson. He always encourages class discussion. You definitely need to read the material to get a good grade though and attendance is mandatory for PY435. And, he doesn't use email, which is kind of a negative. Overall though, I enjoyed taking his classes and the material is very interesting!

I had his fall 2010. He was a great prof, Read your stuff, if you read everything is so much easier. He made it so the students had to participated which helped make things easier in my opinion. The tests could be rough though. Overall I learned a lot from the class and was glad to be there

Whatever you do DO NOT take him! Tests and quizzes are loaded with trick questions. Even with reading the book I didn't really understand the material. Extremely unprofessional and rude. However, he curves the class A LOT...because a majority of the class would fail otherwise.

This was my second web course with Olson. Not only were some of the questions ridiculously hard, even with reading the book over and over, he was not very helpful in answering any questions. Nor did he respond in a timely manor. He couldn't even respond with when things were due, and it wasn't clear in syllabus.

Quizzes and tests have questions that no matter how hard you study, you won't get right. Labs are very easy and are the only day you are "required" to go. Olson spends most of class talking about completely irrelevant information. Waste of my time to attend class. He seems totally uninterested in psychology and is a poorly trained educator.

Best professor I've had. Talk in class and he'll give you a good grade. I never did well on the quizzes but still got a good grade. Gained a lot from the course. He likes to call people out a lot in class. Very laid back. Very honest.

I am still in his class but feel the need to post something already. On day one this man explained that he was fired from his position as a psychologist because he called a client a dumbass. His teaching method consists of yelling and arguing with students and his quizzes and tests are loaded with trick questions. He's not professional.

You have to read. Plain and simple. PPTs are online study those for quizzes. Use quizzes to study for tests. READ! Voila- you'll be just fine. Brad isn't such a bad guy and I would take him again. There isn't much motivation to go to class, but go because in the end I believe you'll be rewarded. Labs are incredibly easy.

Dr. Olson really does care. He pretends to not but is really a caring guy. If you go to him and ask for help, he will help you. He gives a lot of quizzes all worth between 5 and 20 points. You will always think you're doing worse than you are. I loved class with Dr. Olson!

To be completely honest this was the most difficult class I have ever had, and I was premed previously. It's true that he doesnt answer e-mail quickly, if at all. He does know his material, but I believe he let his arrogance get the better of him. He can be vague at times. I read the book, attended class everyday even though it wasnt mandatory

He's unorganized, arrogant, and inconsiderate. All his tests are pulled from the author of the text books data bases. He doesn't set clear guidelines and then chastises students for not knowing what he expects. Students led him through most of the problems done in class, not the other way around.

Yea, so I'm not done with this guy yet. But from what I've gotten so far...He won't return your email, or your phone calls. He doesn't care if your computer messes up even thou EVERYTHING is online and he is a pompous ****. Not even kidding.
