Comment:
Not only was the class great but Prof. Johnson presented the material in a very clear and organized way. The most difficult part of the class is the amount you need to know (if only because so much happened in Rome) but it's easy if you stay on top of it and review every once in a while. Talk to her about your paper before you do a final draft.

Prof. Johnson is one of my favorite profs at BU. She's so hip for her age and cares about her students. Her door is always open, and with small classes she tries to plan group events. As long as you read you'll ace the exams/quizzes. Only complaint is that she takes off more points for tiny details than you'd expect. Interpret that how you want

Awesome teacher, really into her subject (definitely her passion and life's work), and manages to make class interesting most of the time. Reading load can be cumbersome, especially poetry, and tests/quizzes rarely reflect effort in studying (instead, most questions are on little things picked up in class), but overall a recommended class.

Great teacher, both interesting and witty. Brief anecdote- there was a student I couldn't stand in class, always making terrible jokes and generally being obnoxious, and she made it her mission to embarrass and mock him whenever he tried speaking. I'm not generally vengeful but this man deserved it! Yay Prof. Johnson

I honestly didn't like Professor Johnson for the first month of class, but eventually I came around and realized she is brilliant, passionate, and there to help you. You have to work hard to do well, but she is always there to help you along the way.

I had her for Catullus and Ovid's Metamorphoses. I loved her classes and I am a little sad I am not taking her next semester. She is such a great professor! They are really hard, but worthwhile. It's sometimes frustrating because she expects so much from you, but you get over it. YOU HAVE TO DO THE READING! The papers can be a little much.

Absolutely amazing professor. Great in clarifying the Latin and extremely helpful in making you a better translator of difficult latin text. If you get the chance, get her; she is super nice and amazingly cool.

She is incredibly knowledgeable about classics, but I think this class is just too hard. I already took 351 for credit before, and I actually found it harder the second time. Quiz points are lost in nit-picky grammar questions, and she grades the paper like were grad students. A nice woman, smart, funny, but with unreasonable expectations.

This class will give you a very good background on Roman Civ. and the peeks we have into the role of women there. Professor Johnson is very passionate about the topic, and very accessable to students. You have to do your work to enjoy and do well in the class, it's not an easy A.

Very interesting lectures. Straight to the point, does not go off on tangents. Fair grader on tests, quizzes, and papers. Very helpful in office hours as well as via e-mail. So far the best professor I've had at BU.

I loved this professor. An amazing lady and great to talk to during office hours. She'll clarify everything before the tests for you, and she helps make the class interesting for us non-majors. Very highly recommended!

Hard class, but great prof. Def cares about her students as a person. Will go out of her way to help you if you let her know of any problems you may be having. Checks and responds to emails compulsively. Tries to make the class fun despite the dry subject matter (IMO). History isnt my thing, but she made this class bearable at least.

Johnson is great. She's so animated and interested in the topic. She cares about her students and treats them as equals. She respects your opinions and ideas. Sometimes though, she can go on a little too long and we don't get much done. It's true that you have to work for your grade, but she makes you care about the subject too.

Professor Johnson is an awesome teacher! She's everything a good teacher should be, passionate about her topic, good sense of humor, kind, caring about the students, but not willing to take nonsense. You have to work for an A, but the tests are straightforward,if you take good lecture notes, you should have noproblem.
