Dr. Dawn Duncan is an excellent writer. She is always available to answer questions about writing, and assuming you're not just trying to get her to do your work, she gives very thorough answers that really helps your writing improve. DO NOT BE LATE FOR HER CLASS! If you are, she will bring it up at least 5 times and you will feel awful.

Dawn's classes are tough but rewarding. She's very passionate about what she does. She's extremely friendly and fun to get to know, but it's definitely intimidating at first. Do all of the reading a couple times over, and you will be good to go.

Not helpful at all. degrades students and discusses how you are doing to other students. Very passionate but extremely disrespectful and difficult. Obsessed with dogs, Ireland, Texas, and post-colonialism. Cannot go a class period without talking about how brilliant she is.

She is an awful teacher. She does not give clear instructions, and is rude when you don't understand. Do not ask for help one on one. She will call you out in class and make you feel stupid. She is degrading and fake.

Hated the class and the teacher. The group project was ridiculously time consuming and hard to accomplish since the prof doesn't know the first thing about the technical part of film-making.

Dawn is a wonderful professor because you can tell that she is passionate about what she's teaching. She's headstrong and confident so she may come off as arrogant. However, she's actually quite kind and doesn't take well to slackers. So, if you are a procrastinator and a slacker, her classes aren't for you. Follow her grade sheet and you'll be ok.

Not very clear expectations. I like the subject matter, but she focuses on remembering specific details from tests instead of important conclusions.

Dr. Duncan is an intelligent professor that loves her students and wants what's best for them. Yes, she can be a difficult grader and is blunt about what one can improve on, but that's how she pushes her students to learn and become better writers. I thoroughly enjoyed the class I took with her and advise anyone that wants to grow to take her class

Good luck not killing yourself with her work load. I dropped her class because I hated her as a teacher and as a person as well.

She teaches a class that you have to work hard in- but hey, you want to learn something right? She is truly from Texas, so expect one heck of a lovely, loud personality. She has not had a guest speaker except for library sessions. She knows her stuff and the international thing was cool! I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Never take a class from Dawn. She usually has guest lecturers the sad truth is that those will be the best days of the whole class. Know that she has never been wrong in her life. She is prone to distorting history, hoping no one will notice. In a clear effort to make up for her shortcomings as a teacher, she will do anything to degrade her stud.

She can be a very nice person. Mostly outside of class, but once you're in class, her attitude completely changes. She can be very rude and arrogant. Not to mention that everything is always your fault. The nice thing is, you don't have a final. That's about the only upside to this class. I would not recommend her.

Empire to Independence with Dawn was my first class with her, and since then I have taken two others. The subject matter in E to I is definitely her forté, and her strength as a teacher comes from her passion for the subject. She expects a lot out of her students which can be, at times overwhelming, but I have never learned more from another class.

Dr. Duncan is a very smart prof. She tends to be extremely intimidating, but she is helpful if you can get around that. The most help I have gotten from her are when I ask one-on-one questions through email or after class. She really cares about students & is quick to point out what you did wrong, but she only does it to make you a stronger writer.

Dawn loves post colonialism. She did a great job with helping the students understand the text through the means of critical applications. She also has a love for everything liberal. She never got around to grading papers. Her turnaround time on papers is terrible (something like 4+ weeks). If you want feedback early on in her class, good luck.

She's a brilliant mind, but really not helpful in the classroom. Be prepared for blatant arrogance and rudeness on moodle, though she generally tries to keep things PC in the class. Her work is very hard and demanding of time, and it is also very vague. She will often assign tasks with no explanation, and be indignant to requests for clarity.

Her quizzes are very difficult, she is obsessed with Ireland and heavily interested in post-colonial theory, and she expects a lot out of her students. However, her class is one of the better ones that I've taken. She goes out of her way to get information across, and you will think more critically because of her class. It's difficult, but worth it.

Dawn is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had. Unlike some of the other profs in this school she does not bore you with lectures and notes every day. She ensures that students are actively participating in the class and go away at the end of each day having learned something. She is vivacious and she cares a ton about EVERY student!
