I would like to start off by saying Im sorry to all the people doing intro to French at STU now. Allain was so terrible that my class got her banned from teaching anything higher than 1000s French a while back. I think it was either year long or permanent thing. We had her for 1/2 a semester. She was one of the worst profs Ive ever had.

This is your warning. Avoid this woman at all costs. I only had her for one semester after Dr. Francis went on a leave, and every one of us hated our lives. She is a bully, her grading doesn't make any sense, and so full of herself. She gave students different marks for exactly the same work and said it was because she liked one better.

Alice is the most unprofessional prof I have had. she blames the students for everything and does not explain what she wants. I am paying to be taught, not to be bullied and to have my peers bullied.

I would not suggest taking a course with her. Not only is she a tough marker, but her marking does not make any sense. A question would be worth 8 but you would get a 4/5? She bullies students and will mock them. I had many problems in this course this past semester. She doesnt tell you what is to be done for class, she will mumble and not explain.

As open minded as I am, I was thoroughly disappointed with this course as a whole. The material covered was a high school repeat for myself, but any new concepts taught went right over my head. Her explanations were all over the place, and she would ignore questions she couldn't answer. Extremely unskilled and unprofessional. CHOOSE ANOTHER PROF!!

For having a full year class with Alice I hardly learned anything. Most classes are her rambling on about nothing. She is an easy marker so if you're only looking to bump your GPA up take her course but if you want to learn stay away from her. She expects you to know French but gives you assignments without explaining them.

Comment:
Barely learned anything during this class. She is not clear about assignments and doesn't teach outside of the textbook. An entire class can be spent without having learned something. I would not recommend one of her classes. She isn't approachable which make figuring out what she wants for an assignment is impossible. She goes off topic easily.

Don't take a class of hers if you know what's good for you. Extremely unprofessional and scatterbrained. Reads only from the book and if you don't understand 100% what you read, she's condescending. Doesn't actually teach anything and I'm pretty sure my French is worse now than it was when I started the class.

Scatter-brains is right! Too much complaining from her also. It's as if she can't organize herself and has no idea what she is doing.

Alice is probably a nice lady, but a terrible professor. She spent the entire semester telling our class we were babies, and treated the UNI class like a grade 3 class. She is very scatter-brained and doesn't clearly assign homework. She expects a lot from the students when she gives nothing back. I will never take another one of her courses.

Alice tries to be a good professor but is the worst educator I have ever had.. She is unclear, unprofessional and very disorganized. I would never take another class with her and dreaded the one that I did take. French is my favorite subject, but with her it doesn't even feel right. She insults students and should not be teaching at uni level

Alice is a good person, but as a professor is extremely unprofessional and unorganized. She expects 200% from her students and is often demeaning and condescending if you do not meet her unrealistic expectations. She's scatter-brained and hard to follow. The course material she taught was beneficial, but I dreaded going to class.

She treats her students at the UNIVERSITY level like little kids. She takes it personally if you don't come to class one day, and expects you to bring an excuse... She's also too intense and will often put students down or make them feel bad about themselves. Assignments were spontaneous and unclear and students often felt uncomfortable.

Though she is a nice lady, she is way too involved in students personal lives. She says mean things and asks innapropriate questions (like asks what you want to do after school, and then tells you you will fail at it). The course isn't bad, but she turns it into hell. She even calls you out on things she thinks you have done wrong outside of her course. It would not be out of the ordinary for her to make someone cry.

Alice is a great professor. She enjoys taking her students out to enjoy life- like getting coffee at the cafe, watching movies, and visiting museums. She's not the most patient professor, especially if you speak English in her French class. So freshen up your French skills if you go to her class!

Awesome lady! She is approachable and if you show up to class and do the work, easy to get a good mark from. Sometimes unclear as to what she wants, but just ask a second time and she's more than happy to explain as many times as needed.

She is nice enough as a person but not fair. I can speak french quite well and come from a french community but I went to an english school my whole life so I wasn't taught all the grammar stuff and she seemed to think I should know it. She even admitted that she graded me harder because she expected more from me when I asked her. Fair???

Very nice professor, always willing to help out her students. She enjoys teaching and you can tell! She is funny, interesting and she cares about her students a lot. Wants everyone to do well but is fair when marking. Lots of work to do but totally worth it! I learned a lot in her class and highly recommend taking one of her class if can!

Terrible. Random tangents, illegible scrawlings, asks too-personal questions (like "how do YOU pay for university?"), made a girl cry, doesn't even speak French all the time herself, and we do a TON of written work, although it's an oral class. I think my French is worse now than before the class.
