Comment:
Professor Heyd was very accommodating and well spoken. He was very accessible for questions and addressed what was unclear. His readings were very interesting and added a lot to the course. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and would definitely recommend it to others!

Entertaining lecturer. He can be funny, and knows how to involve the class in a discussion. The class was well paced as well. Small group project. Small weekly homework involving readings. Two tests. Overall one of the easier classes I've taken.

Really enjoyed his enthusiasm in all of the lectures and the readings. Content was very interesting and class discussions were mediated well. Grading criteria was somewhat vague, but if you put in an average amount of work and attend class you will succeed! Would definitely recommend for an interesting elective.

Ive take some of heyds classes before and loved them, but this one wasnt at all enjoyable. First of all it took weeks of months to get any corrections on assignments if you ever got corrections back. There was a pretty large group project that ended up only being work 10% and the final was worth 40% and its been 20 days and still no final grade

Comment:
Unbelievably flaky. No clear marking rubric, you will never know why you have nearly failed an exam. The markable material is fine to get through if you just regurgitate what he says in class. We have been a week or two behind in terms of material covered, and it makes doing group projects more stressful. This class made me hate philosophy.

DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSES!!! He is completely disorganized and vague and this gets progressively worse as the semester goes on. His lectures make no sense and he can not teach whatsoever. He grades on how he feels and can not justify his grading when questioned on it. His assignments are also extremely vague and unclear. Worst Prof I've had!

It doesn't take a lot to get a good mark, but you need to be basically publishing a paper to get an A. I took notes before the midterm (hardest part of the class) but he posts his notes so after I stopped. Show up and reiterate the material to him in your project, midterm and final and you'll get a B easy.

Would avoid at all costs. Completely disorganized and got progressively worse throughout the semester. Won't record marks on coursespaces and can't provide you with a clear grade. Criteria for group projects is vague and he will assign marks based on however he's feeling (and then can't justify them). Get ready to sit in a circle for daily groups.

Professor Heyd is fine. Just make sure you did the readings and weekly assignments. In class you will just talk to your classmates about the readings. The content and readings are quite easy and interesting. Can be a bit wooly, but still a nice course.

Lots of online readings. Lectures were quite boring, and were primarily on Western Europe and antiquity, not Eastern Europe. More of a random course on variable topics, rather than talking about the history of the cultures and their relation to modern day. Disappointing prof, hopefully better with someone else. Im still getting EUS minor though.

Comment:
Philosopher teaching an ethics course, so a bit flaky as you might expect. That said, an interesting, well-spoken guy with a good grasp of his subject. Lectures basically "show up and group chat." The insistence using checkmarks and comments on assignments instead of hard marks is infuriating. Overall, though, good pick.

Comment:
Heyd's strength is undoubtedly his creative approach. He can reveal connections between concepts you'd never have thought could be connected. However, this very strength can be his weakness, as it leads to disorganized lectures where he ends up rushing to catch up for time lost on digressions (oft initiated by random student comments). Heyd is by far one of the easiest professors you will ever have at the university level but DO NOT expect an A. He rarely gives them out but expect a high B and nothing more. Do the weekly assignments and the midterm and after that the final is take home. Super easy and I would recommend this course to all business students pre-core

Definitely can go on a few tangents, and if you're the kind of person who really needs answers for every question, you might get frustrated (but keep in mind, this is philosophy...!). He just leads you on your own journey towards learning, and is INCREDIBLY helpful and kind. Lots of opportunity to focus on what interests you!

Comment:
Thomas is an acquired taste; He continuously asks questions instead of laying down a foundation first for each philosopher he covers. He never truly answers his own questions or other students and beats around the bush with explanations, then leaves you hanging, questioning what is right and wrong and what you could write on his tests to please him
