Meyers really cares about your grade. She offers extra credit on labs and hw. Also Karen gives out review sheets to study as well going over materials for tests. If you miss a quiz she will give you 5 free points to make up a quiz. All you have to do is write what you learned in the class on the same day you missed class.

Karen is very passionate about the subject and cares that her students actually learn the content. You can tell she enjoys the subject thoroughly. We hardly used the book at all. Watching the lectures will help you a lot in this class.

As an intro class, Karen did as much as she could to make the class interesting and interactive. I enjoyed the content, especially with the help of the TAs. Lectures were somewhat boring, but the content was easy enough to pass the quizzes, and exams. Not to demanding, but an interesting class, especially to satisfy a natural science requirement.

If you skip class you won't pass. They have in class activities and its like we are in grade school again. The lectures are VERY boring and she doesn't seem to know what she is teaching. I would not recommend taking her although there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit.

Comment:
Not overly hard/complicated, but many of the aspects and concepts aren't very clear. Maybe it's because of the grading. Seems like many of the times I was doing things right, and it all worked just as it should, but I would still end up with mediocre grades on homework/project assignments. Class feels easy until you get your grade back...

Intro to CS was very insightful, if you're looking into computers as a degree this class will definitely let you know whether it's for you or not. The lectures were very well planned. Match syllabus and stayed on course. The tests weren't hard if you did the homework and labs. Looking forward to other classes that she has.

She's a great lecturer.. It's CS so there's a lot of reading and labs can be long. Tries to make the class humorous as possible. Not a hard class... But you want to pay as much attention as possible.

Karen introduces material through lectures and hands on work. Gives in-class group assignments(my group sucked and I ended up doing all of the assignments but I ended up learning a lot more), 5 labs, one final project with a partner, and three exams and she even gave a couple of extra credit opportunities. In class work a significant part of grade

Very easy class. She will put you into groups. Make sure you show up to class everyday because she always give in- class assignments to groups for a grade. Expect to write essays in her class for group but they are really easy like 2 pages. Her exams are very easy. Study her PowerPoints and you will do fine. She also posts the study guides on pilot.

She is a very good professor. I think she has class setup a bit differently. You must attend class for in class assignments, do the labs, and then tests should come easy.

This class was really easy and really boring. Karen tends to show favoritism to the more vocal students. The test and quiz questions were taken from the end of chapter exercises. Personally, I did not like this class, but, it's a good class for boosting the GPA.

Definitely easier than most of the other CS/CEG profs. Very helpful only if you ask for help. Made database concepts easy to understand. A bit dull during lecture. Projects take a long time to finish but are not that hard. Oracle software used in class is difficult to use. Current book can be bothersome to read. Overall: Liked the class!

She's very nice, also had her for CEG 210. CEG 210 was MUCH easier than CS 302. There is so much material to cover in CS 302 that there are things on the exam that aren't covered in class. Also the final project took 10-12 hours minimum... You will get a lot out of this class if you are sure to go to every class!
