Comment:
No difference in listening to his recorded lecture from just reading his notes yourself, which are equally unclear. The recorded videos seem meaningless since he just transcribes his notes again and reads them verbatim. Not a good teacher.

Since I took this online due to COVID, all his lectures were recorded and super unhelpful. The first week or two weren't bad since it was mostly review, but after that I had to stop listening to his lectures and watched organic chem tutor instead. 5 "tests" (5 questions) and you have a lot of time so they were not too hard. Just doesn't teach well.

Prof. Ceniceros can be unclear his lecture videos; the material is more glossed over and there doesn't feel like a lot of structure. I often was lost during lectures and had to review later. To be fair, his quizzes were very generous with a few questions and a large time window.

He's a nice guy, but lectures do not make sense. TAs did a better job of teaching than him, but his exams weren't that bad or homework. Plus he drops your lowest exam which is a huge plus. Most of the time I self-taught with the textbook and did practice problems.

This professor is the best! I would retake him if he thought MATH4A. His exams are easy and right to the point. He's kind and reminds you when you have an exam coming up. He always welcomes you to the office hours for more questions on how to solve a math equation you couldn't get in the exam. I would recommend 100% for the online course. HMWexam

His lectures are not understandable unless you already know the material. You are basically self studying if you take this course.

Midterm is easy because it is similar to the practice exam. My friends in other 2 professors' classes both have hard exams, so I feel so lucky.

Lectures are clear and he makes concepts pretty simple. Practice tests help you prepare for actual exams. Gives very little homework which is great but also prevents you from fully understanding stuff. I read the book to get a more intuitive understanding of stuff.

Best math prof I had. His lectures are inspiring and deep. He makes sure you understand the main concepts and results. But you have to work pretty hard in his course. He demands a high standard. He really knows his stuff.

Unorganized. He assumes you're already familiar with many properties in order to solve math problems. He has tenure so he doesn't care if you understand his explanations in lectures. He's annoyed when you ask him questions. Going to sections & doing HW won't help you do well in exams. Taking prerequisite class not a guarantee you'd do well in class

Avoid at all costs. Midterm 1 avg score was 13/20, midterm 2 avg score was slightly less than 11/20. These scores represent his teaching quality: most ppl in this class are around these average scores. He has tenure (his lack of care is apparent) and, thus, is not obligated to curve. Told us we can't use a notecard only 2 days before our final exam

Homework is a poor indicator of exam difficulty. Gives out little practice for exams. Claims to pick test material from lecture, however, tests on less emphasized, obscure material. His averages are alot lower than typical Math3B courses. Class average was a D+ for the first midterm, an F for the second. Seems to not like the idea of curving much.

His homework for 104A was challenging, but not impossible. Attendance isn't *really* mandatory but he randomly checks every few weeks. His lectures are clear for the most part, and he's pretty funny. The tests, however... dude gave us a T/F midterm AND final. They weren't very easy questions either .. top 10 anime betrayals smh.

Nice guy with "lightheartedly cruel" lecture humor. Regurgitates the lecture notes which i'm pretty sure all the 104 profs use. Hw was hard but worth doing and understanding. Tests were T/F style--(W)TF, indeed. I don't think anyone expected him to double down on it for the final, but we should have known better. He may or may not pull this again..

He lectures a bit faster than I'd like, but nothing too wild. His homework for the most part in this course was pretty reasonable. He does review days prior to his exams, and the exams themselves are very straightforward no tricks at all. You'll know what you need to know for the tests. Funny guy too! Though his humor can be pretty dry. 8.5/10

Hides behind a veneer of humor. Going to office hours is more painful than the dentist unless you enjoy being made feel like you're incompetent. Will assume that you understand the wall of complex summations he writes in lecture without clarification and answers questions superficially. 0/10 do not recommend

Possibly the best math prof I've had at UCSB, he's able to communicate complicated material in a way that makes sense, homework assignments are challenging but helpful, and you get to learn how to use matlab in the process. grading is fair, prof is very available through OH
