Mr. Timko is a great professor for teaching java! You can tell that he cares about you learning java in the feedback he leaves on the projects. If you do badly on a project he gives you a chance to fix it.

Pretty much if you do the work you are sure to pass. He makes it very clear what he expects as far as assignments go on how to get an A. Pretty much if you follow his grading rubric for each assignment you shouldn't have a problem. Also if you are going to be late on an assignment let him know in advance because he'll be willing to work with you!

Professor Timko is a good choice! He allows for assignment resubmissions to get a better grade and online participation for all weeks until the last day of the course. He gives good feedback and is very accessible. The only problem was the wording of conference questions and assignments which can be confusing at times.

Professor Thomas homework assignments were every week. However, they were challenging but not over nearly hard where it required all your time to complete. He graded the assignments within 24 hours of postings and sends you a notification he has completed the grading. He also gives additional projects to further enhance your knowledge.

You need to know some basic objective programming. He is a great professor who offered me help anytime I asked. His grading is a little on the tough side, but not terrible. Class had 2 quizzes, 4 homeworks, and one project that I can recall. Get 2 chances on the quizzes, but not exactly the same quiz. A few questions are the same. Great experience

You are required to do discussions weekly. I submitted info that hadn't been introduced with code as an example, but got a 50%. When I asked him about it, he said "Did you have two posts? If you did, then I did not consider one of those posts to be of substance, that is, have detail of programming snippet or other specific examples." Not helpful

I just finished the UNIX class yesterday and Prof. Timko was great. He was very patient & encouraging & tried as much as possible to clarify inquiries presented as well as provided ample opportunities to update code rather than be a hardliner. He was also quite responsive. The textbook was mainly for reference, course content was provided.

Great teacher. The assignments are straight forward. I'm not sure if UNIX was easy for me or if it was the teacher. I was able to take alot away from this class and even started using Linux. I'd recommend him for anyone who may be interested in learning UNIX.

Professor was helpful along with the Teaching assistant who's guidance I needed for assignments. The final should have been open note for the programs.

For an online class environment, this teacher was obtuse and rarely helpful. For example, all program assignments were graded by an assistant with ZERO feedback. The final consisted of two essay questions requiring writing programs from scratch without any reference material, in addition to a full section of multiple choice. Enjoy.
