He is a very good teacher but he is lecture heavy make sure you take notes. Expects his students to participate in class. He is a hard grader and is looking for very specific details in your writings. He gives a paper once a week and expects you to read a book very quickly. He is very respectful and is very good at his lecture classes.

He's a nice guy and knows a lot about his subject, but he doesn't do a great job of explaining the material. Class can get pretty boring, but he grades papers fairly. Final project in the semester is pretty cool. Tests are difficult.

He's an okay professor- class can get a little boring but he is very nice and has lots of knowledge about what he teaches. Tests can be difficult and projects are all group work.

He is really interested in philosophy and I think he has so much to say that he gets off task easily. He doesn't lecture well so definitely read the books. He's really easy going and participation makes the class go by faster. Besides a few homework assignments, the class is exam based so you don't have too many chances to raise your grade.

Had him for Parables Of The World in 2001 and he was awesome, I got a B! Took him again for Ancient Philosophy in 2002 and it's sad, but that was my lowest grade in college, a single C-! Thanks for not giving me a D or F, Wians, you're all right! His lectures can be boring but he knows a lot and is passionate about Philosophy! Good teacher!

If you stay engaged and participate, the class is manageable. It is hard to understand what he is asking for sometimes, but he does know a lot about his topic.

Nice guy, overall. Very arrogant at times. Tests are very challenging, especially when you do not word them the way he wants them. Lectures are extremely important to attend. Speaks a lot about the books, and goes in depth with them. I wouldn't take another class with him, but nice guy.

He is very interesting and the discussion in class is all the matters. Tests are very difficult, only 2 short papers, that he grades fairly. Head isn't always on his shoulders, and needs to be constantly reminded of things. Overall interesting guy, boring class.

The best teacher I had a Merrimack. Extremely intelligent and unbelievable at bringing the books and characters to life. The key is to always read the material ahead of time and highlight the key passages he goes over. This helped me. Also there are many life lessons to be learned from the books that can be carried with you throughout your life.

Excellent teacher, but he does go quickly. 50-minute class sessions usually run 5 minutes over because he has so much to say. As long as you take good notes you'll be fine. The study guides can be confusing, but help immensely when trying to understand the subjects and study for the tests. Plays music sometimes, which is different, but interesting.

This is by far such a waste of time. He is in his own world...Very Smart YES, but he is the only one into it. He is boring and rambles on. The test are very hard and not what he tells you to study what so ever. I think he likes knowing know one is smarter than him when it comes Philosophy! I would advoid all of his classes if you can!!!

A good, but difficult professor. His knowledge and memory are like a sponge; he can exude as much information as he can absorb.
