Dave is a great teacher. You cannot deny that he is clear in his lectures and demonstrations, otherwise you probably weren't listening. Dave is also not approachable, has regular complaints about not replying back to emails, and he is no clear in his grading. The assignments will have instructions, but no rubric so you often lose unexpected marks

The professor cares more about students cheating than actually teaching the material. the assignments should be easy if the material was actually thought in class but class is mostly theory, and the assignments are made so that you cannot even find help for it online or any explanation. Maybe if the class is in person, you could actually learn.

He cares - but he makes you work for your grades. He is approachable outside of class, and offers many opportunities to prove you deserve to pass. ex) participation marks on an online textbook, relatively easy grading criteria on assignments. Beware of tests - they require lots of studying and are not easy.

Terrible unclear lectures, never gives any help for tests, just says everything is a possibility to be on there. If you go to him for extra help be prepared for terrible help, as he clearly has no interest in actually being helpful, and discouraging you from coming to him again. If you have him I would suggest dropping the course.

Very difficult class, but a caring professor. He will help you if you seek it. The lecture slides are made by him , there is a textbook that gives you participation grades. The work is very difficult and the content is very different than anything else previously learned in the program. However that is the nature of most System Architecture courses

A very knowledgeable prof. He explains the content he teaches well and is happy to explain further to help his students understand. His assignments aren't cake walks but do provide practice for a good range of course content. His tests are fair-ish and he often tells the class if a specific topic will appear. Overall, hard work is the key to Bockus

Knows a lot about computer architecture, doesn't know how to teach it! His assignments are filled with tedious work that fail to actually assess knowledge instead of assessing amount of work put in. His tests are filled with obscure crap he barely teaches. Needs to learn how to teach concepts instead of just spewing random facts. The worst teacher!

When the prof themselves claim the course is called archiTORTURE, shouldnt they be doing something differently? Only take this course if you have a strong background in architecture. Dave expects you to use some buggy software (that he claims himself) to build a microprocessor. He barely gets you started, then you have to figure out the rest.

Either respect or fear this man. Bockus is a no-bullcrap instructor, but he will bend over backwards for you if you show initiative. Witty jokes and fun are always had in his presence along with some serious teaching ethics. Nobody can read his handwriting, including himself, so write as he speaks and try to keep up. He WANTS to see you succeed.

Dave has a no BS approach to teaching. He tells it like it is, no filler, straight killer. Take his courses if you want to gain real world applicable skills. But be warned, he is tough and his handwriting is hard to read, so pay attention to what he says.

I never once asked him for help on my own. I didn't find him kind, I found him to be kind of a jerk. I hated going to his labs. But the fact is he is one of the best Comp sci profs. He taught very well and DID WANT US TO PASS. He does make himself seem scary and all but I know he is a good guy, somewhere deep down. But yeah, socially awkward indeed

He's a good teacher but he marks way to hard. He seems to take pleasure in making people do badly (even if that means rounding your mark down a couple percent instead of up 0.5% to get to the nearest allowable mark)
