I wouldm't recommend her unless this is your passion of study then go ahead and take her. She is serious on learning each and every concept to the maximum. I found her to be aloof while grading harshly, she will deduct a point just because. She has also lagged (being late, not showing up) on certain classes but doesn't expect that from a student.

This is not an easy A class. Lectures are painfully long, tends to go on tangents. Class consisted of 12 800-words summaries based on assigned readings (tough grader on this. I lost points just for missing 1 concept term), written midterm (not super hard if you study well enough), and a mental map project (easy). No final because of the pandemic.

The class and films shown themselves really are interesting but the way the class is run and the grading criteria is overly ridiculous. There's a paper due every single week. She is such a heavy grader on those papers too. Besides the papers you have a midterm & final worth so many points. She expects you to know every single concept verbatim

You must write a paper every week, which was fine. You watch a movie every class, which is fine, unless if for some reason there isn't a movie she has prepared, then she talks for 2hrs40min straight. What makes her rating so low is the midterm and final, despite the easiness of the material, she required us to write 6 in class essays each exam.

Did all the papers and was graded tough. Exams are the same. You can pick up he concepts she teaches elsewhere. Do not take this class for a grade.

Lecture concepts and terms are a bit challenging, so attendance is necessary to understand and apply them to the homework. Once the film's over, she uses what's left of class to helps us by pointing out things to use for our homework. Textbooks aren't used at all, but helpful if need more examples regarding certain concepts. Easy and fun class!

Class met once a week and each week had to turn in an essay assignment. Page numbers for essays didn't matter as long as you answer the prompts! Midterm and final exams have 8 questions and are the exact same questions taken out from the homework assignments. Do your homework and you'll pass the tests! Gives tons of extra credit opportunities!

She assigns a 5-6pg paper EVERY week. The midterm & final each had EIGHT essay questions (and each essay question had multiple parts to it). Basically it was like doing 8 of those HW papers in the span of 2hrs. You can skip class if you watch every film & do the readings, but this class is SUPER tedious regardless. I WOULD NOT recommend.

So much writing! There was 20 analytical summaries, a four page paper, a 2 part midterm and final (written), and a mental map (easiest 150 points to get). The lectures were interesting but man, there was a paper due every single class that were based on tricky articles to follow. I lost so much sleep bc of this class. If you want an A-work for it

Very easy if you do the homework assignments. HW is assigned weekly, 2 exams which consists of questions related to the homework. Everything is written. I'm a fast test-taker and it would take me at least an hour to complete the exams because of this.

Not a bad class, she showed some interesting films. Lots of writing though. Assigns homework each week, which usually require about a page or two of writing. Two exams, both are short essay questions using a blue book. The exam questions are based almost entirely on the homework she assigns, also assigns 3 page essay, offers lots of extra credit.

Norma scared me the first few classes. I thought the class was going to be difficult. But i actually enjoyed the class. Shes really nice and knows the subject very well. Her tests are long but easy if you did the hw and watched the movies each week. HW each week but theyre easy to do. Take her.

She is very passionate about the subject and makes you think a lot about the people and world surrounding you. She talks the class up as if it is difficult, trust me...go to class, study a little.. and its cake. I didnt do any extra credit and I pulled out a B+. The class is a bit biased and her english is lacking, esspcially for a US University.

This class is not easy. LOTS of reading (20-100 pgs/wk). Attendance mandatory for group activities. Lots of writing. That said, she is a very accomplished, passionate, and ACTIVE professor. A rare learning opportunity from a true border scholar. Broad perspective. Very up-beat, respectful, and kind. Extra credit opportunities.
