Comment:
Don was an incredible teacher. His instructions were crystal clear, and he acknowledged students' individual interpretations/capabilities with representational art. More than that, though, Don was warm and personable, and he supported artists in their goals. I loved having him on my graduate committee, and I still carry his teachings with me.

Don is a fantastic instructor, for those who care to learn from him. he is patient with you so be patient with him. his class sessions are like running marathons, they are long and tedious, but after 2 semesters with Don, i am leaps and bounds above where i was before his class.

I'm really glad I took this class. I saw an improvement in myself thanks to the techniques he teaches in class. Yeah he does talk a lot but I didn't really mind. He has a positive attitude, especially during the final critique. Got an A.

Don is the best art teacher at CSUF. He views art as a craft and discipline. His approach to it is the attitude that will land you work in Illustration. Everyone should be grateful as he was the only one to teach craft while other professors taught how to draw what you feel ( which is not teaching). Don is not a cheerleader; he is a coach.

Don is a wise man. He's experienced a lot as a citizen and an artist,so listening to him talk can be rewarding in that he will drop a few gold nuggets of wisdom here and there. And if there's one thing I've learned from him this semester,it's that YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE YOUR PROFESSORS.If you are heading into animation,TAKE HIM,if you are fine-art,DONT!

Don was instrumental in focusing on what I really wanted from my 25 years of college. With, his guidance, I Gradutated with a BFA in Environmental Design and Drawing and Painting. He shared so much of his knowledge about figurative art and Portraiture

Don talks too much and too low to understand. He plays favorites and i saw little growth on students he didn't favor. He can be incredibly rude and cranky. His handouts are riddles. We generally spend far too little class time drawing.

Don is the BEST teacher at CSUF. If you go through the art department without taking one Don's classes its a real shame. He really cares about his students and their future. He is a great teacher and a funny guy.

Mr. Lagerbergs knowledge of art history and practices are an immeasurable resource for any art major. He is generous and thorough when explaining art methods and to the dedicated artist he is invaluable. All I have left to say is that you should take one of his classes or all of them before he stops teaching.

I had Don as an art instructor 10 years ago and he was the best. I am an art instructor today and I learned some of my teaching methods from him. I especially liked his unusual references. When I attended 6 -11 years ago, CSUF did not have a strong art department. Don was one of the few excellent art instructors working there.

He is arrogant and not very helpful. He tries to impress you with his knowledge but he deceives you with his status as a "professional". He may have knowledge but he does not know how to share it.

I agree with the comment above, he does has mood swing. sometimes he can be yelling at someone for no reason, and sometimes he can be all happy all the sudden, very strange. It's not very professional of him.

Don knows a TON about art and he doesnt mind talking about it...thats the problem, this is an lab class, not a lecture class...it is obvious that he is past his teaching prime...he will yell at you in class, he has a temper...he is subject to mood swings. Woulda loved to take his class 15 yrs ago.
