Comment:
This class was split between two professors, and his portion of the class was definitely more difficult. I found the marking way harder especially on the labs and considering the amount of time put in, the marks weren't the best. He was understanding though, and clearly was very passionate on the teaching material which made lectures good.

Dr. McKendry is such a cool guy, would love to see him in upper level meteorology courses. His quizzes are relatively easy btw, and the labs are quite manageable imo!

im taking it now and our entire discord chat just complains about this class. the labs are ridiculously long and he expects us to complete it without having have learned the material at all. ex. lab #1 is due during week 2 but the material in it isn't taught until week 4... get ready to google search your way through this class. good luck

Comment:
Compared to GEOB 103 with Matteo Saletti, Dr. McKendry's teaching is a dumpster fire. He goes through his slides too quickly and talks only cursorily on topics. It's extremely hard to follow and he doesn't explain concepts in depth. He takes complex images from the textbook(s) so we don't know what to copy/it would be hard to. He fanboys over wind

Dr. McKendry adapted really well to online lectures, and he is the most accessible and caring prof outside of class hours (usually answers emails within a few hours at most). His lectures I found entertaining, brief (thank god), and useful! The quizzes were ridiculously easy (so long as you attended lecture) and overall, it was an easy course.

Very helpful prof. The labs and quizzes are fairly reasonable. For the lab, students can access the recordings of different lab sections after the lab. So, it's easier to finish the lab because different TA explain things differently and some TA may explain the question in a way you like. Still waiting to take the final though, my opinion may chang

Great lecturer. Gives plenty of in-class time to work on assignments and group projects. Very forgiving with late assignments (within reason).

Definitely one my favourite profs at UBC so far. He really inspired me to research topics outside of class and he's a great lecturer. His online slides and notes aren't the best, but as long as you show up to class and pay attention, you will have no problem doing well! (PS the lab portion is a definite gpa booster)

Great prof. Loves what he does so he's an enthusiastic teacher and cares about your comprehension. You wont absolutely have to go to class, but you'll want to go. Tests are fair.

Ian is an awesome clear-cut prof. Although some of the concepts are hard to grasp he presents them in a way that makes it easier. Probably one of the best professors I have ever had. He also makes it very obvious what he expects you to know for the exams, study and you will do well.

Probably one of the best profs I've had at UBC, especially in the geo department. He's from New Zealand and is very hilarious, but his accent doesn't distract. Such a good teacher that I found myself finally understanding concepts from previous years that I never got. Great prof, very good teacher.

Such a good prof - super passionate but not so much that he goes on wild tangents and loses track! Very knowledgable about Vancouver-related issues and putting those into a global context. Fair exams, not too difficult if you studied. Very helpful outside of class as well, just a great guy in general. Take him if you can!
