Good professor. Insane amount of reading. Just read the first article or two each class and get the general gist. Make absolutely sure you that read the Chainsaw Al book in full, especially the 2nd half. You'll learn a lot in this class, Professor Elson has plenty of good stories.

Take this class if you need a finance elective. Hard to get an A unless you speak multiple times each class and read every single article (which is not possible to do), but if you write a good paper, speak at least once every other class or so and get at least half the answers on all the pop quizzes right you should do fine

The course only uses primary text so expect to read A LOT. That being said, the class is one of the best I have ever taken. Professor Elson is renowned in the corporate governance field and extremely knowledgeable. The final paper is the only real grade you will receive so start early.

This is a really good class to take if you are interested in going to law school. Make sure to participate often in class and do well on the reading quizzes. He is a real asset to the school and is often quoted in the WSJ.

Elson is by far the best professor that UD has to offer and he has amazing connections in finance/law. His panels are also amazing and include CEOs from fortune 50 companies, Chancery Court judges, ibankers, and high powered lawyers. If you get on Elson's good side he is extremely helpful. He pretty much got me my job after UD.

You need to do a lot of reading in order to participate and have any idea what to do for the pop quizzes. Read the shorter articles first and you'll probably get an idea of what the longer ones say and then skim those.

Mean Business and Chainsaw used but not Corporate Governance. The reading material counts a total of more than 2k pages. Not a fast reader so I need to spend 20 hrs/week. You can learn a lot if you want to be a traditional stock analyst or go to law school, otherwise it's not that useful. Tip for International students: DROP IT!

Lot of reading for the class. Has very nasty attitude. Don't be late to be class EVER. Will stop in the middle of what he's saying and wait for you to have a seat. If this class wasn't needed for DLE, would not have taken it. .

You are lucky if you take his course. Extremely well known in all the business world. His class gives you amazing opportunities to meet CEOs of Fortune 100 companies. EXTREME amounts of reading but you will become and expert in Corp. Governance. Great class and person to talk about during interviews for jobs. Always read and talk in class for pts.

Only take this class if you are very interested in corporate gov. Be prepared to dedicate hoursss reading before each class. Impossible to read every article (it'd take like 15 hours). Pop quizzes are tough, so you have to participate a LOT. Participation and quizzes are 50% of your grade. Other 50 is 15 pg paper which has to be flawless, good luck

Take this course!!! The issues discussed in class come up again and again in business decsions, and articles in the WSJ. The readings are LONG (especially the Disney decision) but if you're heading to law / grad school, it's pretty light by comparison. Panel discussions involve THE major players, who rarely have the chance to talk to each other.

Do not be fooled by other reviewers. This class is more time consuming than any other I have ever taken at Delaware. Sure, no tests sounds great, but the 2 million pages of assigned reading more than makes up for any lack of studying you might have to do. The paper is a 15 page monster and you get an automatic F if you miss more than 2 classes.

This man knows a lot about a lot, and probably every significant figure in the corporate world. If it weren't for him this class would be dreadful. There is SO much reading for this class that really isn't nessessary as long as you get the jist of what the day's topic is. Participate as much as you can without looking like an idiot or pompous.

I hated this class. Elson is a condescending jerk. Should be an easy A though. All you have to do is read, read, read, and be ready to discuss. Also you have to write a 15 page paper. In my opinion, unless you love corp governance or want to go to law school, stay away

Start your paper early. Quizzes are hard when he ask for some specific names because there are a lot of readings for a class. You do get enough time to do the readings since there are no outside work except the 15 pages paper due at the end of semester. Should be an easy A if you spend enough time. Participation is required to get a good grade.

Incredible panel discussions. I'm 3 years out of UD now and work on Wall St. and things from the class still come up in discussions. The man is connected and the people that he brings in are well known.
