Sorley is very personable, he is very passionate about what he is teaching, and he likes to reference shows that he likes in his lectures and assignments. He does have a lot of assignments that aren't worth a lot towards the final grade, but they are relatively easy. There were two tests and an exam, all of which were not cumulative and were mc.

I really like the organization and structure, you can see that he works hard on them. His lectures were entertaining, i loved them and it was easy to recall the content later! He actually cares about his students :) Reading the textbook can boost your grade, you can do ok without it but some content of the quizzes is exclusively taken from there

You can tell he puts a lot of care and effort into his online lectures! They do feel a little long but they're very interesting and well-done. Make sure you take good notes and definitely read the textbook if you want to do well on the quizzes! Overall a really great professor and a great class, I would definitely recommend.

He responds to emails quickly and really seems to care about his students. His quizzes are long and worth a lot, and you should read the textbook if you want to do well. The lectures are interesting, and its clear that he puts a lot of effort into them. Assignments are pretty easy and quick. Overall a fun class and a great guy!

He has a great structure, generous with his time, very compassionate and kind and elaborate. I never left his class and felt like I didn't understand. You NEED to read the textbook though, and quiz questions are sorta worded weirdly but you get used to it. Not too much work at all, easy A if you understand the content.

He is literally my favourite professor I have had. He puts so much time into his lectures and is an amazing teacher! I have had him twice now! SUCH a nice person. He grades fairly and the work load isn't too much either.

Despite professor Sorley's effort to make lectures exciting, they can be quite dry due to the material. The textbook is quite dense but you don't need to read every bit of information. The course consisted of 7 assignments and 3 tests overall so pretty light coursework. You can tell prof Sorley really cares about his students!

He's awesome! Passionate, caring and genuine. Perfect lecture structure to aid understanding. Very organized. Actually quizzes you on things in the reading but not in the lecture. The only reason I gave a 4-star, is, he could be more engaging and interactive.

This Prof is a jem. Hands-down my favourite prof in Carleton so far. If you have the opportunity I would highly recommend taking his class. Currently registering for his third-year sports psychology class because I enjoyed his teaching.

Sorley is my favourite prof ever! He is very funny and keeps lectures interesting. There are only three non-cumulative midterms that make up your mark for PSYC 1001 so you must be good at multiple choice. To get an A+ you need to read the textbook (but you can still get a very good mark (80%+) just with the lecture material). Take good notes!

I think Matt was my favourite first-year professor. Clearly cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. Very accessible outside of class and even has extra office hours around the tests. Great professor, so helpful and kind! I wish I could take him for every psych class.

Such an amazing lecturer, he truly cares about his students. He makes lectures fun and enjoyable, it made getting up for 8:35 worth it. If you pay attention you will understand the materials with his examples and jokes. He even gives feedback on how to succeed on the midterms by asking students who received high marks their strategies

Matt is a gem. He's the kind of prof who's always smiling and makes an 8:30 am class fly by. It is super obvious that he cares about his students and their success, and is always very accessible outside the class for questions. Only three exams in his psyc1001 class which are fairly easy if you study. 10/10 would recommend

Matt is the best! Hes a super friendly and kind prof so you never feel nervous asking him questions! Holds tons of office hours so hes always available and he genuinely wants you to do good! There was 3 exams each 32% that only covers 2-3 chapters each so it made it less stressful on students! 100% take psych with him if you can!

Amazing lectures. Prof. Sorley does a great job making his content interesting, and relatable, to everyone listening. Prof. Sorley - although he's no Malette- is a surprisingly funny guy which adds to the quality of his lectures. Despite living about an hour away, and class being at 8:35am, I always look forward to Psyc1001.

He's honestly a really great prof. always there when you have questions, there ar three exams not cumulative but that's it, we need the textbook but only need to know the major terms, exams not that difficult if you study well. would def take one of his classes again! I wasn't going to take his class b/c it was a morning class, but hes worth it!!!!

He is the best prof I have had so far! He is so funny, makes the lectures interesting, and everything he teaches is relevant! Also, I am a student with a disability, and out of the 21 profs that I have had during university, he is the only one to reach out and check in! This was a nice surprise. You can tell he really cares about his students!

Matt is incredibly nice. He also really tries to be enthusiastic for each lecture, which is very much appreciated. I grew up playing soccer and so I was excited to take this class and having Matt is such a bonus. I would take any class of his. He responds to any e-mail the quickest and gives a lot of detail. You can tell he cares. My new favourite.
