Comment:
At first, I wasn't a fan of David Clark in PHY107 but in PHY108 he's grown on me. He talks a lot during his lectures which makes it very hard to stay focused and write good notes but he does post the lectures afterwards which helps a lot. He also does something I think a lot of professors should do which is making clear and precise weekly schedules

He isn't the worst guy in the world, but he does not make a very good professor. The lectures are dry and confusing. Most of the time, the homework is over topics not yet covered. I was lucky and got a really good TA. A lot of people did not pass and refuse to take a class of his again.

One of the worst professors I have had in all of my years. Will assign homework before he touches on subject. The TA's are basically useless as they all have conflicting answers. If you go to the Physics Learning center for help, they mostly give wrong answers, which makes it even more unclear.

Dr. Clark's class is difficult but doable. Homework was very excessive and difficult. Use the physics help room to your advantage; the TAs there are very helpful and are responsible for my high homework grade. Tests were hard and often felt rushed, and grading was fairly tough. I'll be taking Dr. Bernhardt for PHY122.

Same as my PHY229 Rating. The second time around will be easier since you will know how to write your lab reports. Lastly, use your time to write your reports, waiting until the last minute is a bad idea. Also pay attention in your PHY236 and PHY238 as they will help immensely with some of your lab reports.

Be ready to work for this class. Required: Alg., Calc., Physics, Reading, Writing, Research, Excel, Word, DataStudio, 5 Labs Reports to pass, 10 total. Do: Think outside the box on this one, take all the measurements, not just what is asked. Post-Lab Questions: Dr. Clark is helpful but will make you work for the answer, they are not handed out.

Comment:
Physics professors are pretty hit or miss, and Clark is a complete miss. Extremely unclear in lecture, assigns homework before actually teaching the material, and just unwilling to work with students. He messes up often in lectures and can never get Top Hat to load. If you're a freshman who got put in 121, drop it and take it with Bernhardt.

If you've taken physics before basically forget what you've learned. He "teaches" out of a new book with all new concepts. By teach I mean reads off slides. TAs aren't helpful. Many students don't go to lecture because we are practically teaching ourselves. Don't get me wrong the guy is brilliant, but he makes Sheldon Cooper look like a sweetheart.

Easily the worst teacher I have ever had. Got a 5 on AP Physics B, still don't understand a word he says. Offers no help, homework does not line up with lectures, TAs are generally wrong or useless (usually both), and to top it off he isn't even fair. If you get him, drop the class. I'm an Engineering major and I couldn't stand him.

Comment:
Compared to the next semester prof, he hardly has any examples, the online work is horrible, and the way he teaches is confusing even though I have taken the same class only one semester prior and learned the same material. And the final exam you have to provide your own equation sheet which is incredibly stressful if you miss something.

Do yourself a favor and don't take this professor. I had completed physics one and physics two in high school and my teacher had been recognized for how well she got information across by the country.. His lectures are as clear as mud, test average in the 60s. This class is not for someone who wishes to pass and not study for more than 10 hours/wk.

Everybody bashed Clark but he honestly ins't as bad as people say he is. YES the class is hard, and its a lot of work. If you go to the recitations, and lecture and pay attention as much as you can, and study some on your own time (4-6 hours per exam), you'll do fine. Clark is really helpfully and nice 1 on 1 if you ever need help. Labs are useless

Comment:
Dr. Clark, sucked, he is one of those Professors that is extremely intelligent but he cannot teach or explain anything. If I had not taken AP Physics in high school I would have been lost all throughout this semester. The lectures are pointless because his explanations are terrible. Read the book the book is great and you will do fine.

Great guy outside of class, and really cares about the students who take the time to talk to him personally, but if you are looking for an easy physics class, this isn't for you. He aims to have students learn a lot from his homework, which can be very rewarding if you put forth the effort, but can be very challenging. Okay teacher, better friend

I learned nothing from his lectures, the lectures didn't correspond with the homework, the tests were hard, and you never had enough time to finish all of the questions of the test. You're basically responsible for teaching yourself physics.

The worst professor I had my freshman year. Homework and lectures never corresponded, and tests were also very hard, making the class almost impossible to do well in unless you took a challenging physics course in high school

Comment:
His order of things: assign homework, collect homework, teach the topics of the homework.... assuming he teaches the concept at all. Also contradicts himself in lecture.
