Comment:
Seidman is a terrible professor. Lectures are unclear and you can't read his writing. He does not realize the class is completely lost. The tests would be easy if he could teach, but you will do bad unless you can teach yourself, and Linear Algebra is hard to understand. You may get a B or C, but still feel shaky about the basic concepts.

A nice guy however, he really has no concept of organization in the classroom. His lectures are unprepared and spastic. He cannot remember proofs and then assigns some random questions for homework and tells you to Google the answers. The grading scheme is nonexistent. Also very dull speaker.

I read his reviews on rate my professor and thought, "I'm sure I'll be fine though. I've had bad professors before." Biggest mistake of my life. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!

Class is a honestly a waste of time and makes the material even more difficult to understand. He spends about 5 min per section, and likes to dance around questions that are asked. Lectures contain no detail and he writes incredibly small on the board. The final is a paper about what we learned. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

after talking about a bunch of random stuff for about the first half of the semester, he declared he was done teaching...and that's when i stopped going. our final was to write a paper about why we should get an a. so, as long as you write a baller paper, you'll be fine.

Horrible teacher - one of the worst. He is very knowledgeable yet doesn't know how to teach what he knows. The worst part is that he is full of himself. Not only did no one learn anything in his class but our final was to write a paper on what we learned throughout the semester(in other words, to validate his horrible teaching).

Definitely the worst professor in the math department at UMBC. I have had him for history of math and calc 3 and in both classes he made them much more miserable than they needed to be, and required you to completely teach yourself. Avoid him at all costs!

I've learned a valuable lesson to 1. listen to the reviews of rate my professor 2. Never take a professor where he is rated 2.5 and 3. Never take a math class at UMBC again. This man is a horrible professor and would take time to have discussions and write papers yes papers in class. Things in class had nothing to do with homework. Not worth it.

HORRIBLE. You learn nothing-No exaggeration either. Doesn't use textbook and when he comes to class, thats when he decides what he is going to teach that day. And he wonders why so many people hate math!!! Then when more than half the class fails his exam, he whines about that. Hmm..when you don't teach anything..don't expect us to learn anything.

We've spent the better part of 3 classes discussing how to win a game where beans are separated into bowls. I haven't learned anything useful as he is incompetent and does not truly TEACH the material, instead assigning homeworks he barely returns to during class. I want a real math teacher not a Colonel Sanders look alike from the Old Country.

One of the WORST professors i have ever had. If you ask him a question in class, he will talk in circles and find a way to avoid the question. Seidman aka Coloniel Sanders needs to be fired.

There are 2 types of people who should take this prof: math kids who are full of themselves and need to be knocked back to size and true prodigies. If you have ever struggled your way though a math course, find another prof. Some teachers are so good that you learn almost "magically" and everything makes sense. This is not one of those profs.

This guy is unbelievable! Instead of teaching what will be on the homework in class, he teaches about challenge problems which are completely different topics from the homework. His lectures are never clear! I have never been this frustrated with a class or teacher before. This guy needs to seriously be evaluated by administration.

He definatly knows the material, you have to work hard to learn the material in 302 it is a weeding course. The main thing you need to do is LEARN PROOF DIRECTLY FROM THE DEFINITIONS, and read the book and do the homework, definatly put time in this class or you probably don't want to continue doing math as a major

Terrible! His lectures were so useless. In fact you were better off not even going! The stuff that goes on just make you keep getting angrier. He'll put one thing on a board and erase immediately. Spends about 5 minutes per topic and completes a chapter in 2 sessions. Ridiculous. He's good for history of math and contemporary math though.

OMG This guy is possibly the worst professor I have ever had in the history of the UMBC Math department. He gave the most absolute worthless lectures during class. I have had this man for 251 and 302, so I know what I'm talking about. Despite his poor teaching skills and his difficult tests, I will say he's a fair grader. I got a 66, 42, and
