I struggle with chemistry but Stan's teaching made it as enjoyable as it could be. So sweet and very flexible and always willing to help if you need it. Class material is tough.

Stan is an amazing Chemistry teacher. He is super kind, understanding, and always willing to help. His material can be a little tough but if you put in the effort its very easy to understand. He is also one of the sweetest professors I've ever met.

he expects you to know everything before he even teaches it. At time he could be very rude, well at first you might think he is a chilled guy but when you gonna start going to office hours for problems, he could lose his patience fast. Also, his review paper topics before test will never make it to the test !

Stan's class is hard, but he is an incredibly understanding and caring professor who wants his students to succeed. Building a relationship with him and going to office hours is key and will very much help your grade in his class. His lectures are informative and clear, and he always helps to clear up misconceptions.

There is a huge 20-page paper for this FYS (Energy for the modern world). I love the way Stan talks about it though. He is very helpful with a topic, always available, and easy to understand. If you have questions, you should come and talk to him. Btw he does not grade heavy. I know that 80% on the test was an A. He seems to be very nice!

Stan is a very sweet and caring guy. If you put in the time and effort into study sessions, homework, lecture, and extra problems the class will not be an issue. The tests are tough... The problems are usually many steps drawing in equations and concepts from multiple areas

Comment:
Stan's lectures are horrible. He sometimes goes over topics too quickly and/or assumes everyone knows everything. The homework is always 100% harder than what is taught in class; every Thursday there is a problem set due. He is, however, very caring. Gives partial credit for almost anything, especially on tests. Grades everything super quick.

Stan teaches a tough course, but if you do the homework assignments, study for the tests and show up to class you will succeed in the course. Getting a good grade is entirely possible, you just have to do the work. Stan's constant smile during lectures and memorization of student names made the 8AM class a little less painful.

Stan is a really nice guy. If you go to him for help he will be happy to help. Since the intro class is so big it is hard make sure that you understand what he is saying. Sometimes he is very unclear and makes mistakes or contradicts himself. If you have never taken chemistry or it has been a long time, this class will be close to impossible.

At first, I resented this class and Stan's teaching style because I had never taken Chemistry before. Tests were hard, and I definitely spent a lot of time studying. It paid off though, and somehow I came out of that class with a new appreciation for Chem. Stan is almost always available for help if you need him. I'm gonna miss gen chem!

Tests are very hard. He gives previous years tests to study off of, but the tests aren't very similar. Nice professor. His office door is always open for questions. HW problem sets and quiz every week. Overall, this class was challenging and I had to get a tutor to help with the material. Class average was B-.

One of the worst Professor at Connecticut College. Tests are super hard and his lectures are useless. Lectures are pretty boring and he goes really fast in lectures. Try to avoid this course.

Chemistry was my most dreaded course, but is necessary for my major. Stan's lectures weren't really helpful to me, and I wound up learning most concepts from online tutorials. His class is very challenging, especially so if you haven't had a chem class in high school. However, he is pleasant in class and very knowledgeable. Tests are hard!!

He's a really good teacher and he's really helpful when you ask for help. He's nice and sometimes funny too. His tests are hard, but not too bad if you go over all of the homework and previous test problems several times.

I am an older student (chem major)and I felt that Stan was harder on me than on the traditional students. He made a comment like "let's hope you're more with it this time" that made me feel stupid and less likely to ask a question. It also made me try harder to prove him wrong and I suppose made me a better student, but it was not fun.

Although a challenging course, Stan is always willing to set aside time to help. The homework and labs are pretty easy but his tests seem to be at an advanced chemistry level. Also, he always wears an adorable Hawaiian shirt and never stops smiling.

Stan is a fantastic teacher, especially in the 107 class. He makes it interesting and fun, and is always willing to go over things again if someone doesn't understand. It is a difficult class, however Stan makes it fun and applicable. He also includes the students in the class, letting a different student perform a demonstration each Friday.
