It's an easy A if you don't miss the online homework and give a little bit of effort. attendance is not mandatory although he said he'd give out one bonus point on five random class days to everyone who came. we have a month left of class and he's probably taken attendance at least 7-8 times for bonus. the final is the only test that isn't online

He lectures in class about material that doesn't pertain to the homework or exams, therefore it is hard to focus. Attendance is not mandatory but you can receive bonus if you go. All work is online, so it's a 'teach yourself' type of class. I took this an elective and I have yet to learn much. Also, make sure you take another finance class first.

Dr. Thommesen teaches a very interesting class. Honestly, I took this class because I was just taking it for a FINC elective but it's actually interesting. There is a ton of reading and definitions but the real life examples are interesting. The testing is not super difficult. Sadly, this class is not really a discussion class but more so lecture.

Didn't go to class all semester. Everything is online. There are like 20 HWs and Quizzes and 4 exams including the final (final isn't online). Some of the answers on the hw are from quizlet, but some are from the book. It's just busy work. I did not enjoy the myfinancelab assignments bc they're so time consuming and took forever.

He is a nice and funny guy, but all of his lectures are super super boring, and have no relevance to the most of the grades. All grades are online, and taken outside of the class, so they're super easy. Exams are online too except for the final, and most of them have quizlets so you can do well on on the exams if you just google the questions.

All exams except for the final are online along with homework assignments and quizzes that mostly come straight from the homeworks, he gives plenty of options to get a good grade. projects, bonus, attendance points... really easy A,

Study like he recommends & youll do fine! definitely not a course to wait until last minute to study for. He gives a project & allows for a notecard on the first 2 tests & gives an optional cumulative exam to help scores. also curves at the end of the semester. study definitions & sample exams & youll do fine!

Sven is a god among men at this citadel of higher learning. Take him whenever possible. Don't neglect the sample exams, they're very helpful. Occasionally dis the federal reserve for extra credit and an A isn't too difficult.

Easy but watching paint dry would be more exciting than listening to his lectures. Test questions come straight from sample exams so there's really no point in coming to class. Extra credit project offered for up to 5% on your final grade and raw grades curved at the end of the semester.

I am not even done with this class and I'm giving it a rating. I was very interested going in. That was til about the first week went by. BORING. Everything is online besides the final. And there is a project. But the online material is extremely time consuming!Waste of time taking this class because everything is common sense. But good luck .

This class was not that bad. The raw scores were low, but curves the final grade so much that an A is easily achievable. He also allows a notecard on each test and drops the lowest one. The lectures are boring, but the class is not difficult at all.

I have never written a review on this site, but this teacher made me feel like I had to. Easily one of the worst teachers at Auburn. When 3/4 of the class is making 70 or below on your tests and 1/2 the class has dropped or withdrawn by the midterm, the problem isn't the students, it's you. Avoid AT ALL COSTS

His class wasn't actually that hard. I went to class about 3 or 4 times aside from test days and still made an A. He's a pretty fair grader, and even helps you out a little bit. He might not be the most interesting professor out there but that doesn't mean that the classes he teaches are impossible.

Easily one of the worst classes I have ever taken. His lectures are useless because he complains for 50+ minutes and acts like the information given is obvious. Going to class is pointless because he doesn't even give examples of the formulas he puts on the board. Do yourself a favour and DON'T take this guy.

Pointless to go to class. Vaguely talks about things relating to test. Never puts examples, only formulas, on board and then a bunch of math problems on the tests. His notes are random and might be a page max for each class. Gives bonus for attendance, but rarely. Half test questions from sample exams. Notecard allowed on each test except final.

Worst class I have ever taken at Auburn. All tests and quizzes are online except the final which is in class. He does not offer help if you need it. Somehow the class lectures always turn into how stupid the government is and how America is the worst country to live in. Would not recommend at all.

Worst teacher I've ever had at Auburn. He's incredibly smart therefore he can't teach. He just doesn't understand why you don't know the material already and why it doesn't come as easy to you as it does to him. He talks down to you when and really doesn't answer questions. Avoid Him.

He acts like he's doing you a huge favor by answering any questions you have. He's really condescending. Class is useless because all he does is get on his soapbox and talk about what's wrong with the world instead of teaching. The only good thing is he provides lots of quizzes and practice tests online to help you study.

He is crazy smart, therefore he has no idea how to teach an intro level class. Nothing he went over in class was on the test and the slides are pointless. Also, misreably boring. I had to teach the entire class to myself. Don't be fooled because his other classes are "easy" bc he just changed EVERYTHING Good luck...

The most ridiculous class i've taken at Auburn. He changed the format of class (the tests aren't online), yet he never changed the way he taught (which really is nonexistant) I only passed because I had a study group and taught it all myself. If you have any choice DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Most frustating experience of your life.
