Comment:
Do not take a course with this man. You will regret it. He talks like an @ss. Ends all his sentences with an affirmative--something that can get insanely annoying. Nitpicks the text so pedantically that all interest and enjoyment is lost. If you like spending hours analyzing lines of text like a computer programmer you'll love this guy.

Don't head any praise the students are giving him. He uses unneassary vocabulary difficult to understand, and most of all a disgusting marker. sends too many usless emails and the work load is heavy. i bought 5 books for him...

He is very knowledgeable-my notes from his lectures are five pages long per class. I really like him and I hope that I have him again. He really encourages students to participate, although he becomes a bit frustrated when nobody does-I try-even though I am painfully shy.

Arrogant??? I did not experience and arrogance from him whatsoever!!! He is highly intelligent and encourages students to participate during his lectures. In fact, several times, he even played music during the lectures because they were related to the texts. He is extremely helpful outside of the lectures and for both essays he gave me 2 weeks extr

Comment:
Professor Leahy is ok. Just that: ok. His arrogance is professional not personal. He does not encourage comments divergent from his own direction. With women's literature, historical context is so relevant and I find he sticks to the books. Expansion of the climate which birthed these literary works would make the class so much more interesting.

Comment:
Dr. Leahy has his shortcomings as a professor; you will get a lot out of his comments and insights, but you will be frustrated by his esotericism, but at least he reads the texts before commenting on them. I just wanted to say that he was extremely generous with his time outside of class, which is really a rare thing for Concordia profs.

Comment:
I could not stand professor Leahy. He is pretentious, arrogant, and just plain irritating. He uses esoteric vocab, and does not welcome participation. He is very smart, but only likes to hear what he has to say. His essay topics are boring, and confusing, and the stories we read we the same. I love English lit, and Leahy killed that for a semester.

Comment:
He really knows his way around literature, but he's obviously developed an arrogance towards other people's opinions as a result; he reminds me of too many small bookstore clerks. I also found the final paper topics to be of no interest, as they dealt with excessively tedious aspects of the course material. He will root-out the faint-of-lit.

Dr. Leahy is a wonderful man and superb teacher; I have taken numerous course with this prof and reccommend him to anyone who truly loves lit. He rewards passion and originality, is very easy to communicate with (allows re-writes) and thoroughly enjoys his subject. His remarks and insights will remain with you for a long time.

Take this class only if you're really into women's lit, otherwise just do the 3 cred one. Sometimes it's boring, sometimes it's interesting. He knows his subject well but falls behind a lot and often revises syllabus. He goes out of the way to help you if you ask him questions outside of class time.

Likes to give off the impression that he knows his stuff by using pretentious language and seems to disagree w/ every other prof who teaches the same material. The first assignment was almost impossible to make sense of. Sends continuous "corrections" to the syllabus because he can't seem to stop himself from spilling over to next lecture. Awful.

Fantastic teacher, encourages participation from all students, extremely knowledgable. As long as you put even a little effort in you'll learn a lot in any of his classes. He's not the slightest bit arrogant, he is very smart, and that's obvious when he speaks.

Had him before the poney tail and missing teeth. Took the class as a complementary, so wasn't that eager. The historical context made it quite enjoyable for me. He encouraged participation. I didn't find him arrogant or pretentious.
