Comment:
Ridiculously easy. Papers and assignments are given full credit just for being grammatical and making sense. Exam questions are given in advance and the answers are directly out of the lecture notes. There's no reason to read the book or attend class. Hardly any material. Whole course could be taught in 4 weeks.

Her 221 seems to cover more than a regular 221 course should be. Given that some rules I learnt from her 221 class are what other people learning in Ling330 or Ling321, it may be a good thing to learn ahead. The part teaching foreign IPA sounds is so damn hard. You will be test on theirs articulations, even you dont recognize their pronunciation .

She is so cute and funny. I was told don't take a course with her because she is hard. I'm glad I took this course with her, she gives bonus marks on assignments that keeps grade high. Midterms pretty easy but her final was a bit more challenging (not extremely hard). I would take another Ling course with her if I could. Best Ling prof!!!!

Such a wonderful professor. Zita is so sweet and caring. Very personable and clear. Says exactly what will be on exams and teaches really well. Great supplement to the textbook which was also really good. Loved the class and she made it so interesting!

Unclear with exam expectations. Seems easy because you get the questions before the exam. The class has concluded that she decides your mark based on drawing marks from a hat. Totally random. Does not explain things well.

An ok class, but one of the worst professors ever. She would not admit to making a mistake in answering a simple pronunciation question, even though it was obvious to any English-as-a-first-language speaker that she was dead wrong. Give me a break.

She is not helpful even if you go to see her during her office hours. She does not give you clear guidance when you are stuck on assignment questions. She is also an unfair marker.

Comment:
Several mature students (over 30) have found this professor to be rude, arrogant, and unapproachable. She was not willing to answer their questions in class and favoured the younger students. This is blatant discrimination based on age.

Comment:
Boring, disappointing: the book mediocre, the assignments not well related to the lectures, the lectures boring as anything, the exams just memorization. Zita tries, but she's poor at answering questions in class and asks a lot of display questions. Don't be mislead: it's all just phonology anyways.

Yet another professor with genuine interest and passion for their subject, Zita McRobbie made the dry material entertaining and interesting. Very helpful, especially in office hours.

She is very good at explaining things, and holds everyone's attention well. Never wastes time, and sometimes brings you lollypops. Shushes people a lot though *dum dee dum*

I agree with the last person. 409 was pretty much exactly the same as 260. Zita is a very nice prof though, always willing to help out. I'm very suprised someone rated her "hot".

For such interesting subject matter, not a very interesting course, which was disappointing. If you did 260, you've basically seen the highlights already. Also, McRobbie's explanations weren't always very clear.
