THE WORST. Lectures worthless- read from his own book, kept students until the end or past the end of class. Packed way too much material for a beginner class, impossible to absorb. Exams were ridiculously hard - avg was 48/100! On the first exam day he bragged how his exam was harder than the CCNA. But the class was "introduction to networking."

This was online and over only 6 weeks. This class is very demanding and should be given a lot of time per week. Go to office hours and ask questions

Beware if you are taking his summer courses abroad: The 3 exams are synchronous from 4-6pm Pacific time regardless of your location in the world. The course grade is curved by percentile so it depends on how others did in the course. If you have taken stat119 you will find 2/3 of the concepts similar.

This guy is the worst professor in the Fowler College of Business. He, not of fault of his own, can't speak great English so it is impossible to follow his lecture. Completely unorganized and doesn't know parts of the subject so he asked students(!) he was teaching to bail him out. He also doesn't know how many weeks there are in a semester. AVOID!

Dr. Shin is a rarity in the SDSU MIS department. He has done more for my academic success than any other professor. He does have an accent but it is not bad. He is empathetic and reasonable. His test are difficult but for 687 test answers can be found in his book. Do the book exercises. His test are part typical multiple choice and part exercersice

Not a math person but are required to take MIS301 for graduation requirements? Shin's online class is tough! Go to office hours and get help! This is the second time I'm taking the class. Only 3 exams over the Summer but 4 exams for the Spring or Fall semester. His accent can be difficult at times but he wants you to succeed. Exams are on campus.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I took the online class and there are only 4 tests and NO homework so it is really hard to get your grade up. The tests are extremely hard and he only provides online lectures and they are really hard to understand. He is really nice but he does not do a very good job of explaining everything and you have to teach yourself.

Took him for 6 week summer session. Lectures were online video along with powerpoint slides. We were given exercise questions to practice. He did zoom for office hours which was super helpful. Its really easy if you give yourself enough time to practice and go through the material. He was really patient and helpful when answering my questions.

Do not take him because his class is bored and not professional teaching. Tests are really hard and a lot of student fail his exams. Lectures are not clear, hard to understand. You have to buy a book and study from it because his lectures are not help for the exams. Recommend to take another professor. This is super hard class I have ever take

Took him over the summer for online class but he didn't teaching at all just give us the lecture and the power point. You have to learn by yourself. There's no home work or quiz, your grade is based on 3 exams and 1 question is 4 points. Tests are hard and he is a touch grader. Half class fail the exams but he did curve but students still failed.

Good prof. sticks to the text book since he is the author. Will take time to explain in detail in case you are new to the subject or a slow learner.

Prof. Shin is a great guy and tries to make a tough technical class interesting and funny. Took the first session of this class so I'm sure it will get better in the future. In class labs are a little unstructured.. book is just okay.. Tests are a little tricky and he's a tough grader on presentations.. but overall, a pretty good IS elective.

He tried his best on lectures, sometime I got lost because I couldn't understand what he said. The worst part was group presentations. He did not take note during the presentations, I had no idea how he waited until the end and graded. We put lots of effort, but just got an average. He did not want students to get high grades in his class.

Good Professor. Follow the lectures and read the book. Practical questions. No need to mug up every detail from book. Content is ok. Half of the content is essential and half is only for people who want to be in networking. Very enthusiastic professor. This is class is not very technical

Horrible class, so hard to understand and pay attention in class. Must attend all classes because there are pop quizzes. He means well and cares about students but he just doesn't know how to teach the material. Tests are insanely hard.

READ THE BOOK! It's unbelievable how many people get F's on his exams. I got A's... because I READ the chapters 2-3 times. This is difficult material. They are short chapters. You have to read and re-read it. Dr Shin is excellent, but you MUST read the chapters multiple times. And always think to yourself while reading, "what would be on the exam?"

Thick accent but its funny and the only way to make it through the lectures are by laughing inside. Class wasnt too hard, 15q tests just suck because you can only miss 1 if you wanna get an A. Do all the practice problems he assigns in the book and youll be fine

Very nice guy, very thick accent. He cares about his students. Class, however, is pretty difficult. Excel assignments are a nightmare!! Tests are pretty hard, everyone I know pretty much failed the final, but don't worry, there is a fatty curve at the end of the class! Overall HATED this class, but Shin was chill
