He seemed to spend more time trying to be entertaining than actually teach. Some of his jokes were dry and unfunny. You could basically just learn by reading the book. But this is rather typical at Umaine the Professors and Instructors don't seem to teach very well. A lot of dumb students as well.

he is nice, but gives no structure with his testing. Im an honor student, and no matter how hard i worked, could not get my "A". He gives you a textbook as a study guide for his exams.... oh and your notes of course. If you like structure, don't take this course.

Although he can be funny/childish at times, one must be warned that he can switch quickly into being a jerk. Depending on his mood, he can come across as quite abrasive.

One minute he's very boring and the next he is goofing off to get attention. Interesting subject but wow his test questions are childish sometimes asking about space aliens.

Great professor, great class. I recommend it. Roscoe has the most dry funny humor of any professor. Difficult tests but read and attend lecture and youre good to go.

very good class - must read all the material and come to the classes. If you do that, you're golden. If not, it's your fault for not doing well.

I think the main reason students like his class is that he is very funny and entertaining. Can't say I learned very much from him "just read the text book and you'll learn all you need to know just from the book". Aside from teaching yourself he is funny and entertaining.

BEST PROFESSOR IVE HAD.....every class was worth going to. He taught in stories which made it easy to remember. He was very funny and that accent is the best.Kind of reminded me of Paul McCartney. Plus he scaled his test over ten points each time so if you fail there is something extremely wrong with you.

Aside from being totally illiterate in the way of test writing he's entertaining, moves funny, class is interesting, easy grader. Its only Maine and not Harvard but its a cheap college if you want to save $$$ on tuition.

By far the best and most personable professor I've had. Made excellent examples that stuck in my head. Long as your actually do your work, you will pass fine. Even though i passed with a C, i thought it was far. Bought him a Cigar, since he deserved it.

His tests are wacked he writes a lot of questions with sloppy sentences, makes up for it by scailing up his exams 16 pnts, he's not very open minded for an Anthropologist he slams on the French a lot. We read soft**** called Nisa that had nothing to do with the actual African tribes - its a nasty book. He took off most his clothes the last class.

The class was pretty interesting, and it was a bonus that he had a british accent. However, his exams are fairly crazy (although you're pretty much guaranteed ten bonus points added to every test due to errors on his part, so that helps). As long as you read and attend classes, passing the course is a piece of cake.
