Pros: Professor Johnson is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. There's not much homework, nor is there in classwork. The only thing needed to pass is the essays and the final presentation. Cons: Her lectures are boring. A little negative, IDK I didn't like the way she compared us with other countries, made me feel guilty.

Easy class as long as you show up and do a decent job on the papers. No in class work and no textbook required. However, you can only have two absences or else she'll drop your grade and she assigns paper topics with barely anytime to work on them.

There is no text book needed, because she uses articles as a textbook. Needed this class for a writing intensive credit. Takes attendance everyday. Total of 6 essays that make up your grade and a group project. She lectures the entire time and doesn't put in grades. Won't update grades until the end of semester.

You have three "exams" -each one consists of two 3-4 page essays that answer the questions she asks regarding the lectures. You have one "final exam" which is a group project. Very easy class although I wish this was an online course since the material she covers in class could be read and taught with the articles and notes she downloads on canvas.

She is a kind and caring professor; we get 6 essays (2 due together so 3 different due dates). She grades them and lets us revise them to bring up grade. There is a final project at the end of the year.

Taking this professor is very aggravating because she uses her own grading scale (An A- is a 3.75 which is a B according to UNCC standards) and you never know what you have in the class. I still have zero grades in Canvas and I only have 2 classes left. Also if you miss over 2 classes, she takes you down an entire letter grade in the end.

You can tell this professor is really smart and knows what she is talking about but she is EXTREMELY boring. My entire class would be falling asleep almost every lecture. There's ZERO in-class work. If you're a decent writer then this class is EASSSY. Anyone saying it's difficult is out of their mind. Just show up and write the papers

No class engagement whatsoever. Doesn't even bother to ask students questions. Feels as if she doesn't care if we learn or not so long as she gets her point across. And her point is often thrown around since she doesn't ever make clear points. Too much writing. Would prefer other means of learning. Do not take her if you actually want to learn.

The whole semester all we have done is sit in a classroom with the lights off and listen to her lecture. She knows her stuff and it is often interesting material but it is just so boring. Little class interaction. No final, just writing papers. Should be an easy A.

There are a lot of papers in this class. They weren't super hard, but they were boring. Lecture's are pretty boring but she is very well knowledgeable on the subject. She provides extra credit but its scarce and almost not worth it. It's an easy class overall.

One of the worst classes I've ever taken, literally ALL she does is lecture and drone on about what seems like nothing forever. Not even kidding. No quizzes, no study guides, no articles to print out, barely any class engagement. Just her lecturing for over an hour in a dark room with the occasional video or three. After that you write papers.

ALL SHE DOES IS LECTURE. Also, she takes forever to grade your papers so you really don't know what grade you have until the final one is posted. 80% of your final grade are the papers you write (2 each month) and 20% is a final presentation on whatever you want as long as it deals with the Middle East. YOU CAN REVISE THE PAPERS FOR A BETTER GRADE!

She knows the material and will lecture the entire class period if no one asks questions. The four papers you write can go off what she has said during her lectures but if you want an A then you will have to research a bit more and she will provide plenty of sources for you.

Dr. Johnson is probably one of the best professors I have had here. Her exams are 3 to 4 page essays (about 2 a month) on the Middle East. She doesn't assign homework so you have plenty of time to write them. I really enjoyed this class and will probably take her again for my free electives. I highly recommend taking her for this or any class!

Honestly I didn't feel like I learned about Islam, I was expecting a different style of teaching. Her class is very easy to pass though, only 3 take-home exam essays and a final presentation project

Dr. Johnson is nice. She does have some boring lectures depending on what interest you. This is an easy A if you can get through that part. She has three papers throughout and you get to redo them to better your grade. If you have any question just email her and she will help. She gives all of the information for the papers through email.

Good teacher. 3 take home essays. Able to do rewrites. Very knowledgable but lecture style sucks.
